So it wasn’t the actual strict gun law that caused the murder/suicide?
Since the wife was selective in reporting incidents with the husband, he still had a clean record.
But you must remember that the anti-gun crowd does not need facts to demand more laws.

No laws caused it, no laws will stop it.
Not necessarily true. It’s impossible to say if such laws have prevented such crimes. It’s not hard to believe that gun laws have kept weapons out of the hands of some unstable people prone to violence. Can they go and get them illegally? Sure. Impossible to say they all do.

Well, that’s a really great case for creating an unconstitutional law L O L.

But I wasn’t really referring to that. I was referring to the fact that he was suicidal and the gun was just convenient. You cannot really stop someone hell-bent on suicide.

🙄. Always somebody to call every law “unconstitutional”. It’s amazing the SCOTUS allows any law to stand. They obviously don’t know their job!!

Right and I’m sure you were saying the same thing with Roe v. Wade? 🙄
I think the SCOTUS overturning Roe v Wade is proving to be a real kick in the nards to republicans. And that’s inconvenient for people who like guns these days. But Democrats aren’t going to lose a lot of voters over gun laws even if they are inconvenient. Republicans can’t say the same about Roe being overturned.

What are they going to lose because of a law that should’ve never been in place to begin with? Directly after that ruling one of the most red states in the nation voted to keep abortion legal it’s a states right issue. There really isn’t anything in the constitution about abortion, so carry on, sir.
Excellent job at trying to spin the conversation away from the fact, the gentleman was suicidal by the way. It completely crushes your gun law argument, but never mind that L O L.

extremely strict gun laws work at reducing deaths, it's a provable fact; arguing otherwise is ridiculous

the real response is: so what?
it's not worth the loss of liberty from the tyranny of criminals and oppressive government

Everyone knows Republicans are mostly anti abortion. The independents that vote with Republicans are concerned about the economy, crime, and border security. All issues that Democrats are weak on. Whether Republicans get those votes depends on public perception about those issues. For example Biden's numbers were tanking and gas prices were high before the midterms along with a number of administration stumbles. Looked like a big red wave was imminent. Then Biden released hundreds of millions of barrels of oil out of the Strategic Oil Reserve. Gas prices dropped and the independents needed to take both houses decisively decided that the things weren't so bad that they'd put the party of Trump and antiabortion in charge. And now gas prices post midterm are rising. Hoodwinked and bamboozled with short memories.

I'm not a gun guy, though my kids hunt deer on occasion, or 'rats with hooves' as we called them.

I've never bought a gun, but there may be a couple in some of my homes, but there is probably not ammunition for them. Or ammo at all.

I don't understand guns outside of sport or law enforcement, and even that can get overblown.

If I have to defend my home with a firearm, I may want to rethink where I live.
You do realize crime can happen in good neighborhoods also ----according to Nancy Pelosi.
