I think the time to for a solar system to pay for itself is over 10 years. Maybe a lot longer. Factor in the required maintenance costs and the savings vanish.

Its a lot smarter to just insulate your house and use traditional energy sources.

Finally turned the heat on last night. The new baseboards work much better than the previous ones. Set the digital thermostats at 66 and it was quite comfortable.

The furnace gets turned on "when you're cold" no matter which state you live in.........except a lot of the Hawaiian houses don't have furnaces.

Our alternative is the fireplace.........needed when we have a big power outage.
