It took more like 6 months for me.Most of my ups related ailments disappeared in about 6 weeks
Those old high steppers were murder, and it wasn’t just the step. Those clutches were stiff as hell, with no power steering as well.stiff clutch
And not having power steering didn't help anything either...I've had both of my knee's scoped because of those forking things.
Tear in the medial meniscus on my right knee, and a tear in the lateral meniscus on my left knee.
I was no runner. It was just the repetitive motion of getting in and out of those trucks.
The seats were a piece of plywood covered with fabricAnd not having power steering didn't help anything either...
Plus those tiny bench seats did they give any support to your back or your legs
I remember...The seats were a piece of plywood covered with fabric
Those lap belts were pretty safe! The seats were a piece of plywood covered with fabric
As you unclicked them pulling into a parking spotThose lap belts were pretty safe!
When a contract made them replace the seats they were allowed to take their time and a lot of those still had the old seats as long as they were still in service.I remember...
The good ole days...When a contract made them replace the seats they were allowed to take their time and a lot of those still had the old seats as long as they were still in service.
I'm not saying driver is bad, I am saying that after 30 or 40 years ur body is in bad shapeIt is a zen state that younger drivers struggle with. I have seen veteran drivers fizzle and fall out due to the mental stress.
But your tongue, I’m a physical specimen.I'm not saying driver is bad, I am saying that after 30 or 40 years ur body is in bad shape
But your tongue, I’m a physical specimen.
It took me awhile, but I ultimately realized that 90% or more of the so-called stress of being a package car driver was stress I created for myself.
Once I surrendered to the clock, took it one delivery and package at a time, took all of my personal time daily, empowered myself by enacting all contractual protections, a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders, legs and back.
I made more money, did less work and the quality of all my time was greatly increased.
Not everyone is capable of this epiphany, but I have always offered my testimony to anyone willing to listen and invited them to heed the mindset I described.
I hope at least one person who reads this finds value in it.

He went to go visit Dr. @Brown echo
I think most of the younger drivers think a clutch is that Man purse they carry now….Please explain what a clutch is, for the younger drivers. I was never so glad when the last non power steering package car disappeared.
So true - over 25-30 years genetics come in to play - not everyone is a winner in that lottery. I’ve known a few that at 45 were about 70 physically. That's the truth
I looked and felt at least 10 years younger until it suddenly hit all at once when I was about 50.So true - over 25-30 years genetics come in to play - not everyone is a winner in that lottery. I’ve known a few that at 45 were about 70 physically.
Yep I’m sure genetics plays part. But so many of my fellow brothers come to work with a bag of McDonald’s and a cooler full of monster energy drinks. I wonder if they’re going to make it another year.!So true - over 25-30 years genetics come in to play - not everyone is a winner in that lottery. I’ve known a few that at 45 were about 70 physically.
