I drink your milkshake! a metaphor for capitalism

sounds like a step in the right direction.

ppl always talk like theres either capitalism or socialism, but this articles is a good example of whats in between.

"Since 80 percent of the value of the stock market is owned by about 10 percent of the population and half of Americans own no stock at all, this has been a huge triumph for the rich.

Investment, however, has not soared. In fact, it’s stagnated...

If imposing stakeholder responsibilities on businesses and requiring many of the seats at the biggest firms to be elected by workers pushed the S&P 500’s Q ratio down to German levels (which is probably a high estimate since German codetermination rules are somewhat tougher than her proposal),..."

looks like theres lots of American support for socialism, just don't call it that or u may get an adverse reaction. 53% support.

"

In many countries, employees at large companies elect representatives to their firm’s board of directors in order to advocate their interests and point of view to management. Democrats say this gives regular workers a greater say over how their companies are run and will increase wages, while Republicans claim that this makes companies less efficient and be bad for the economy. Would you support letting employees at large companies elect representatives to their firm’s board of directors?”

They found broad support for the idea, even with Republican-leaning voters.

Employers profit from and control their employees….rather like kings once did to their “subjects.” Eventually subjects wised up and ended monarchy. When will employees do likewise to capitalism?

Mmm, Mombasa!
ralph nader says apple achieved the $1,000,000,000,000 mark by stock buybacks, serf labour, and over priced iphone. he calls corporations private governments. Chomsky and varoufakis have also called them command and control similar to so called communism. us companies have a lower rate of investment than EU companies. compares stock buybacks to burning money.

capitalism has a lot of problems in common with other economic systems and that's why its a failure too.

You're gonna use Ralph Nadar as supporting arguments? The man who single handedly was responsible more than anyone for the destruction of the muscle car?

u know why cars suck so much is bc of capitalism. the mustang is a little cool and its $20,000+. total market failure. they make cars un cool by design. by design. raise your expectations.

ralph is responsible for most of the safe guards against corporate power abuse in America. I cant imagine how many lives hes saved. and hes been crucified for it.

No you wanna know why cars suck so much now? Because of insurance prices and gas prices and people like Ralph Nadar. Back in the day you could buy a Corvette for $4,000 in todays money is like $27,000. The average blue collar Joe could buy one. Now they're $70,000 plus because they pay the guy that sweeps the floors at GM $40.00 an hour. The unions made cars suck. They don't last as long you'd be lucky to get 10 years out of a car now. I have a 71 Chevelle and its almost 50 years old and most of the parts on it are original and its a daily driver. I'm just now having to replace my alternator.

no cars are expensive probably bc wages have fallen. ppl made up for stagnant wages with debt since 1970s.

im pretty sure cars are more reliable now, but im not gonna look it up.

im sure unions didn't ruin cars. automakers are not ur friend and they certainly collude w each other and big oil

They may be more reliable I wasn't talking about reliability. Cars back then were as reliable as they could be, just like cars 50 years from now will be more reliable than cars today. I was talking about longevity. They may be more reliable but after as I said 10 years major parts start failing. That's if you take great care of it. There will not be a car made today that will have major parts that should last longer, go on working for almost 50 years.

You're just full of all kinds of conspiracies aren't ya? Ever hear Freud's saying, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar"?

im not a conspiracy theorist but its well known capitalists and govt collude.

yea its called planned obsolescence. capitalism is so inefficient that they design their products to stop working, not to mention the products we have are barely used. on I work day my car sits unused 23/24 hours of the day

Why do you have a car? You are part of the problem. I’ve got got some life jackets and fire extinguishers I have never used. And am planning never to do so.

But they will fail when you try to use them! Only socialist safety equipment works! Everyone knows things worked so well in the Soviet Union that they shut it down because they couldn't handle their success.

actually im part of the solution, unlike u deluded citizens who think that working hard for a capitalist and buying things makes you a good person.

btw, ralph nader doesn't have a car. I wouldn't have a car if it was practical, but ppl are so cynical, and public transport is so bad that its not. the auto industry helped destroy us public transit. it would take me more than 2x as long to go to work by public transit. capitalism suppresses progress.

regarding your example off efficiency that may b an example where its ideal. cars are not. many things are not. lets not kid ourselves.

if climate change is real then capitalism is a monumental failure and in the process of collapsing.

also ppl aren't free under capitalism bc most jobs suck ie workers taking orders and being dehumanized / used as a tool to make someone rich. so capitalism fails again.

a majority of americans support having employees elect representatives on company boards which is a step towards worker self determination and freedom.

Capitalism is great. Thinking about taking a few board members to Stuart island or maybe maple bay. To discuss ousting the president (who we elected). Things like should we do it before the annual meeting, at the annual meeting, how we will collect proxies, etc.

we will have to take a vote as to which boat to take. I will have to abstain from voting or we may get a deadlock and have to stay home.

you must be part of far right republicans who don't even want employees putting representatives on the board

speak for urself. most ppl aren't as clever as u. most blacks and Spanish americans have no wealth. most americans own little to no stock relative to the whole pie. probably similar here.

No, we are elected by the members or shareholders (about 900 in total). We are a utility so we have a monopoly on ourselves. Very few employees, i wish I were an employee. Entry level gets $16 an hour.

You must start employees at $35hr before rickyb would even consider applying. If he's going to endure being told what to do by a boss he must be properly compensated.

as long as we call a square a square.

democracy is not blowing up a country half to bits.

freedom is not taking orders all day from a boss making someone rich, and being used as a tool.
