I am retired and I made good investments along the way.
My donations are pretty much local (within 100 miles) and to charities as diverse as women's battered shelters to land conservation efforts.
I also help out people trying to kick their addictions via three different churches' programs and a few individuals with their prescription drugs that are not addictive.
ahh lucky. yea i missed the bitcoin and property investment so i dont have any investments.

my parents are donating alot in their will to charity only because govt makes it a tax deduction :S. thank god for govt incentive.

Yep ... about 80% of my donations are to 501c3's.
One tactical approach I use is donating stocks I bought in the 80/90's that have a basis of ~$1/per share that are now worth $80+ /share.
You get the deduction of the share value today without having to pay taxes on the gains.

And mine too!
It doesn't have to be monetary either.
It can be one's time and effort and even more satisfying for most people.
yea but you know me im an overworked socialist so the last thing i want to do is donate time. especially these days with physio, physics, and the dog theres little time. i find on days off i only have 4 or so hours of studying every day.

yea you know whats funny is i was looking at jobs at the local hospital and public transport for the train, and i already make alot of money relative to what some of these other jobs pay, not to mention i get music, dont deal with weather, and work 1430 to 11 which is almost perfect for me, plus i get LOAs.

im doing projectile motion in physics and it reminds me of peter north hahaha

It isn't for the money
No it isn't for the fun
It's a plan, a scam, a diagram
It's for the benefit of everyone
You gotta have a little respect
Subterranean ideals
Traditional neglect
Reflect on how you think it would make you feel

The cause - we're just doing it for the cause

No it isn't for the fortune, it isn't for the fame
It's a scheme, a dream, a barterine
We want everyone to think the same
Because you know what you feel is right
And you feel what you can't ignore
And you try so hard to point the blame
Ashamed - what do we do this for?

The cause - we're just doing it for the cause
The cause - we're just doing it for the cause

Open, your eyes, don't trust, these lies
What are we doing this for?

The cause - we're just doing it for the cause
The cause - we're just doing it for the cause" - nofx
