I drink your milkshake! a metaphor for capitalism

capitalists try and sell their products for as high price as they can.

capitalists try and employ workers for a little as they can.

I'd like to present you with a challenge, Ricky.
Be the change.

Start a business.
Hire some employees.
Pay them handsomely.
Sell whatever product you decide to make for a cheap price.
And finally, avoid bankruptcy.

Good luck.

i already donated $10,000 to democracy at work mostly. some to julian assange, manning, snowden, democracy now, etc.

my buddy started a coop. i just ate coop veggie burgers.

youre welcome.

speaking of change, what do you do?

the real challenge is are we gonna let capitalism continue out of control and consume everything including ourselves or are we going get capitalism under control?

You are the one that wants change.

I want to go to work.
I want to buy a house.
I want to meet a nice girl.
I want to start a family.

The end goal being to raise that family at least as well as my old man raised my family.

I'll be pretty satisfied with my life if I can make it to that end goal.

So you’re saying donating $10,000 to rich people and eating co-op veggie burgers makes you a good person?

youre offended because badideaguys goal is what you did and its what your govt told you to do, and im saying what youve been told your whole life is wrong.
Lol. My government hasn’t told me to do anything. Fortunately, I’ve had the freedom to do what I wanted, good and/or bad. I’m not offended by @BadIdeaGuy goals at all. I think they’re great goals.

You do realize that someone living in their parent’s basement, basically still being supported by those parents as an adult, is in no position to tell ANYONE what they’ve been told or what they’ve done is wrong, right? Surely you see the irony in that?

You seem to be having an existential crisis about the meaning of life. Probably because you're not happy. Sad.
im reading a LOTR book and theyre talking about tolkein and existentialism and i was thinking thats like me. ive learned about philosophies but i forget alot of stuff too.

never said (my) life was perfect but its not bad either. im taking into consideration artificially lowered expectations of course.

if youre unhappy theres 2 solutions: change yourself, or change whats around you. i could change both, but im probably a 7 these days on the happy scale....overworked, dont like where i live, planet is a disaster, etc.

i can move out of my parents basement and it wont make a difference regarding what i said.

badideaguy says he wants to work. so he could be a nazi or any other bad job and that would not mean hes lived a good life.

having a family is consumerism. front page of the paper the other day was people having second thoughts about having a kid because of global warming.

Why don't you get your sorry ass out and do something.
Doers do something.
Whiners read about doing something.
There is a difference.

I donate that much a year to charities.

I love to invest!
how do you manage to donate so much working at UPS?

median annual donation here is $110. i do 12x that much.
I am retired and I made good investments along the way.

My donations are pretty much local (within 100 miles) and to charities as diverse as women's battered shelters to land conservation efforts.
I also help out people trying to kick their addictions via three different churches' programs and a few individuals with their prescription drugs that are not addictive. This year I helped a couple that were homeless to get a car so they could get jobs ... both are working now.
