It appears those entering the country illegally want to be sure they are here in case a blanket amnesty pronouncement is issued.
As a U.S. Border Patrol Agent who spoke on condition of anonymity made clear, a number of those entering the country illegally are doing so to escape jail time or persecution in their own country: "We've seen the number of illegal aliens double, maybe even triple since amnesty talks started happening. [And] a lot of these people, although not the majority, are criminals or aggravated felons."

When police stop a car with an illegal behind the wheel and ask for a drivers license , the driver hands over their passports , which shows no entry stamps into the USA .
The cars are impounded & a criminal summons issued .
But when a citizen is found to be driving without a valid license , the car is impounded and the driver is arrested.
Why is there a double standard ?

On April 1, an illegal immigrant was arrested for shooting and killing a mother after she denied the man a romantic relationship with her teenage daughter. The slaying took place in Aguila, Arizona.
According to police, after showing up at the house of 31-year-old Maria Saucedo in pursuit of her 13-year-old daughter, 25-year-old Jose Zarate pulled out a rifle and shot Saucedo in the chest in front of her daughter. Deputies attempted to perform CPR on the victim who died at the scene.
Arpaio’s deputies caught and arrested Zarate on April 3 at his home where he returned after fleeing the scene. They verified Zarate is a non-U.S. citizen who has been living in the country without proper authorization. He has been booked into jail on 2nd Degree Murder, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Person.

“My point is not to suggest that there’s a cell of 70,000 people here.
What I’m suggesting is that those students coming from those countries where [they] harbor resentment against the United States, if we could save one Boston marathon event or one child’s life by saying we’re going to take a two-year hiatus from countries that we know do not like us and know from whence terrorism is coming,” Beckel told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly on her show.
On Monday evening’s edition of “The Five,” which Beckel co-hosts, he suggested “cutting off” Muslim
students from coming into this country for some time, in response to the Boston bombing.
“I think we really have to consider, that given the fact so many people hate us, we’re going to have to cut off Muslim students from coming to this country for some period of time so that we can at least absorb what we got, look at what we’ve got and decide whether some of the people here should be sent back home or sent to prison,” Beckel said Monday

Unfortunately, our major colleges WANT the middle eastern students because of one simple fact. THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN AFFORD COLLEGE!

I strongly agree with Beckel .... BUT you don't seriously think that an obama led government would EVER allow putting student VISAs on hold, do you?
I am not looking to hijack this thread but I do want to make this point...
If this left wing ideologue was President back on September 11th, I shudder to think that bombings would be common place now. Each state and local jurisdiction would have to fend for itself because this ideologue does not want to offend the Muslim population. A Muslim population that is scared of the Islamic radicals and won't fight back. So tying this back to immigration, this occupant of the White House will not take a stand against protecting our ability to get a handle on Islamist radicals jihadists.

As far as immigration is concered........because of the Boston event, we need to take a very close look at all forms of immigration including the student visas. We need to enforce the expiration dates on the aready issued visas out there. We don't enforce and that's a major problem.
This is NOT the time to rush through an immigration/amnesty bill as Harry and gang would like to do.
