They successfully impeached Trump. They are forcing vulnerable GOP senators to throw their lot in with Trump, there will be no distance between them. 75% of Americans want witnesses at the trial. Voting against them will do plenty of harm. It’s been a political win so far. Censure is a giant waste of time and looks and is weak.

You do realize the Obama administration stonewalled Congress numerous times refusing to turn over documents? I doubt McConnell is in jeopardy but some senators might be. Really depends on how the economy is going and how Trump is viewed in November.

Tie up all the current senators to keep them from campaigning whilst their Dem opposition is campaigning every day.
I've been saying every since the impeachment passed the House that this was going to be a 2 week trial in the Senate with no new witnesses.
I understand it much better now than I did then and I don't see anyway in hell there will be new witnesses.
Mitch is a very shrewd politician and I'm sure he laid out to the Repugs leaning towards new witnesses and how that will impact their time to campaign.
