Lol so are they just going to do this every peak, when they have to prioritize their own customers. This wouldn't give me very much confidence in amazon, if I were shipping with them or planning to.

They are learning that transporting someone else's product can be expensive when it's not your marked up product that is subsidizing the trucks.

Amazon has so much business, it isn't taking business from other shippers until people quit panic buying. How many cases of toilet paper can fit in a sprinter? I would expect Amazon to ask their ADP force to expand if the volume stays high. At least they are giving their contractors time to adjust.

No. What it means is that Amazon will only be shipping their own packages. The are swamped, and can't take packages from their separate Amazon Delivery service. It is about volume from more people ordering from Amazon on line filling up their vans. With all the shipping options and software, Amazon can pretty much stop and start taking outside stuff whenever they need to based on remaining capacity in vehicles delivering products they make more money on. Can you imagine Fedex ground turning away business because their 'contractors' have full vehicles?????????????

No. What it means is that Amazon will only be shipping their own packages. The are swamped, and can't take packages from their separate Amazon Delivery service. There's nothing to say that they can't reenter this market at a later time. If you were to look more closely at what they were doing it would appear that they were market testing as much as anything else. The big battle coming for him will be to keep his operation nonunion.

If they're so busy NOW because of panic buying, why are they waiting until JUNE to suspend the service? You can't be that big of a sucker to believe the PR. The Amazon shopping surge is simply the easiest excuse for the average person to believe.

After careful consideration, we have decided to pause our Amazon Shipping service in the US. Our last day for pick-ups will be June 5th.

That sounds a lot more like "Our attempt to compete with FedEx and UPS isn't really geared to meet the evolving needs of our customers" than "This thing is working out so well that we have to let it rest to fully appreciate how well it's working."
