Of course all these companies made these decisions Wed morning and prepared the press releases for Thur, if Robmey had been elected none of this would have happened.

I agree. These companies held on for as long as they could, hoping for a new president. Knowing they are stuck with an anti-business president for another four years forced their hand.

So, this is an acceptable amount of layoffs in your book ??
Is it acceptable to him? He VOTED for it!
Mitt Romney told us Obamacare was a job killer, here's the proof. All these laid off people thank you for voting for the community organizer instead of the businessman who could have saved their jobs.
I only wish there was a way to lay off the Obama supporters first.

More than 220 workers in Manchester and East Hartford face layoffs in the coming weeks, according
to notices filed with the state.

plant in Massachusetts, the notice says.

TurboCare's Manchester plant has operated for close to 50 years under various names, including IMO Airfoil Delaval
before its acquisition by TurboCare several years ago.

The company is a subsidiary of the Siemens Group, based in Germany, and has two other Connecticut plants, at
182 Roberts St., East Hartford, and in Farmington.

Energizer to Slash 1,500 Jobs – Close Two US Plants

Energizer announced today it will layoff 10% of its workforce. 1,500 will be affected.

Plants in Missouri and Vermont are slated for closure.
StL Today reported:
Energizer Holdings Inc. will reduce its global workforce by more than 10 percent — or about
1,500 employees — as the company closes three manufacturing plants and streamlines other operations.

The moves are part of a companywide restructuring plan for the maker of batteries and personal care
items such as Schick razors and Playtex tampons.

Energizer said Thursday it plans to save about $200 million in annual pre-tax savings through the changes.

In August, Energizer first announced that was launching a review of its operations amid sluggish battery sales
and heightened competition in the razor category.

Energizer employs more than 16,000 people in 50 countries, including at its Town and Country headquarters.

The number of local workers who will be affected by the downsizing is not yet known, according to a
company spokesman.

Utah company blames President Obama for 102 workers laid off By Geoff Liesik

EAST CARBON, Carbon County — A Utah coal company owned by a vocal critic of President Barack Obama
has laid off 102 miners.
The layoffs at the West Ridge Mine are effective immediately, according to UtahAmerican Energy Inc., a
subsidiary of Murray Energy Corp.

They were announced in a short statement made public Thursday, two days after Obama won
re-election.
The layoffs are necessary because of the president's "war on coal," the statement said.

The slogan is one used frequently during the election by Murray Energy CEO Robert Murray, who was
an ardent supporter of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

In its statement, UtahAmerican Energy blames the Obama administration for instituting policies that will close
down "204 American coal-fired power plants by 2014" and for drastically reducing the market for coal.

[h=1]Exide to lay off 150 workers

Exide Technologies announced Thursday that it will be idling its lead-recycling operations in Laureldale and
laying off 150 workers, effective no later than March 31.

Idling means that all of the permits and approvals will be kept up to date and the plant will be maintained in
case Exide wants to reopen it later, said Susan Jaramillo, spokeswoman for Exide.

The plant has been operating since the 1930s, Exide said.

The company will continue to operate its plastics-recycling business with about 25 employees.

"This decision was based on several factors, including the dramatic swings in the lead market and the high capital
investment needed, due to regulatory requirements, to remain operational in Reading (Laureldale)," said
Paul Hirt, president of Exide Americas. "By idling this facility, we can defer spending the capital while
still having the majority of our internal lead demands met through our other three recycling centers
in Vernon, Calif.; Canon Hollow, Mo.; and Muncie, Ind."
