Local 804 Drivers Walked Out

Would you walk off your job simply because your BA told you to?

Fire 'em all for job abandonment.
If the BA told us we were striking, I would walk. However, if the BA cald an unsanctioned wildcat, he should be held accountable not the drivers. But I feel we are only getting bits and pieces of the full story.

Every excuse I ever heard made perfect sense to the person who made it.

I agree to a certain point. I walked in 97 as that was a national deal, but to listen to some guy BA or not standing on a light pole telling me that you all maybe fired for this, BUT I'll except responsibility.....I'm sorry but it's gonna take a bit more than that for me to risk my job. Call me selfish or whatever but what do you think all those drivers are thinking right now?
This was not directed to you just in general.

What i am hearing and which is obvious everyone is on pin and needles and Management will of course start with whoever they don't like to say hey your working termination is over get out. So its going to be like when we made book guys 220 stops finish by 5pm so you can help someone else, but make sure you use hand rails and reduce backing. O and forget those grievance you would want to stay low key for now

Is there some sort of rule requiring you to keep working through a working termination, or can you leave at any time? I mean, I wouldn't work if I knew I was fired unless there was some huge penalty for quitting before I was allowed to... knowing our union, I wouldn't doubt it if that rule existed somewhere

I think it will go in all those driver's files as a black mark against them, so UPS could use it in the future if they really want to get rid of someone. For sure UPS will be all over those drivers with threats of next time anything happens they are gone.

Union would hopefully cut a deal but for the mean time show UPS no outside hired person can do the job better than us. Even though i dont disagree with Liam actions he should not have jumped the gun and got approval from the union to take some sort of action so we could be all have been out there with the big guns because it seems any action UPS does to us we get surrounded by the big wigs.

It sounds like local 804 needs change. And fast. TDU should run a campaign against those guys. Oh wait, TDU is those guys.

You tell em Stinky! Should have let UPS shred the contract like they have been all along. I mean, those 804 guys were lucky they had jobs, right?

Not saying all that, but apparently the 804 execs are out of their league. I don't think you should blame the drivers. This goes way before last week.

The TDU sec tres told all the drivers to go back to work because it wasn't a sanctioned strike.
They are in FL because they have over 400 grievances that they can't get settled.
After this some of the drivers will be lucky if they keep their jobs.
It is easy to be a hero when it is not your job on the line.

So your saying this is completely secular? UPS isn't a secular company. Similar things happen all over the country. Why can't TDU local 804 handle this company? Other locals get it. That local is going down in flames. I feel so bad for their members.
