Negotiations

And those other trucks company's have nowhere near the benefits or Pension. Even then it’s not “horrid” 😂. The ABF drivers in my local were pretty happy. 🤷‍♂️
The ones I’ve talked to werent. I’d have to look at sheetz. Walmart however has good benefits and make good money. A lot of trucking companies offer free health ins. Maybe not the pension but good in’s. Then again a lot of the others match their employees 401k contributions where UPS don’t.

LTL does not pay UPS wages at any company. Some of them have a higher rate of pay for sure, but less benefits and no retirement. Can’t really compare them to UPS.
I understand but the going rate for a truck driver is what it is. If they can’t pay it then they’re going to have a real tough time staying in business.

ABF is not having any trouble staying in business L O L. They are one of the healthier Union freight companies. Every freight company has seen freight disappear as the economy has been struggling. Much different business model than small package.

All the more reason to pay their drivers what they deserve. I’m not saying they’re not a healthy company, idk to be honest. I’m just saying a driver is going to go where he is paid more, it’s simple economics.

They don’t have any trouble keeping employees either. They have a new state of the art facility where I am,their workers don’t get hot in the winter or cold in the summer on the cross dock. It’s all enclosed pretty slick.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

Probably because they’re saving money in paying their drivers less than they deserve, which is why I said the contract is horrid. I’m just saying what the drivers I know told me

That’s a fair point, he already extended their “last best and final offer” one time before, if he keeps doing it they’ll just do it again next time, and maybe show other companies how far they can push teamsters. Kind of like a parent counting down from 5 when the kid is in trouble, if you extend that count or don’t do anything when you get to 0, they’re gonna keep acting up
You clearly don't understand how this works. He hasn't extended anything, we walk Aug 1, that's the deadline, it's always been the deadline. He asked for the LBFO when they weren't willing to budge, so as to get this :censored2: contract offer proposed and then deny it. Then negotiations broke down on the 5th, neither of these are an extention.

Put it this way, it’s horrid for their truck drivers. They have a decent pension from what I heard but their truck drivers are behind in the going rate for truckers. Just because of inflation it is horrid. Every person working should get $3-$5 an hr just for the inflation and THEN their normal raises on top of that. I’m just saying non-union sheetz is hiring truck drivers $30.50 an hr to start. Their drivers deserve more.
Many of their drivers make $100k+ a year, how is that below standard?

When someone says “July 5th last best and final offer” and they give it to you and then you say no and keep negotiating, then that is no longer the “last best and final offer” lol. I’m not saying what he did was wrong, and I think he’s doing a great job so far , but he still extended and went back on that phrasing. And negotiations didn’t break down after that, he said they made great improvements but it wasn’t enough and they kept negotiating

I fully support him, I couldn’t do any better that’s for sure.

How many hours are they working to make that though?

Ok, so we are definitely walking on the first because the contract will not be ratified by then, right?

The company did not offer their “last best and final offer” because that would’ve triggered a different scenario. That signals right there there is another offer or more negotiating soon.

“A best and final offer represents the ultimate offer to be made in a negotiation or bidding process. Parties use the terminology to convey the intention that further negotiation will not be undertaken – the offer may only be accepted or rejected.”
