Saw Sean OBrien on Fox News today interviewed by Neil Cavuto. He was pretty sharp and pushing the part time employee narrative

So we don’t have any money left is not code for LBFO?
Again, last best and final is a very specific negotiation tactic the company chose not to use at this time. I would imagine there was many times throughout negotiating they said they had nothing more to give, and then came back and offered more.

Do you believe him now?
I believe that this is fantastic way to drum up public support. He can’t get on tv and say people making 100,000 grand a year with free benefits and a pension aren’t happy and want to strike. No way in hell the teamsters would have support. We ALL know what a rough job it is, how horrible management is, the stress and pressures of the job but simply and plainly he could never in a million years sell the public on striking over those reasons

I didn’t read all the other ten million threads that you must have said that again and again!

But do you still believe that he is hiding something, or not giving us the whole story?

Anyone who thinks there’s any difference between the company and the ibt is a fool they both work for each other, the workers get screwed. Sound familiar ? Our government is no different

Just a thought....

Anyone remember when UPS had us all write letters to our senators or congressmen or whatever back when Obama was president? Something about changing the law Fedex falls under so we could organize them easier.
They paid us to write letters, that came from corporate. It didn't work, but clearly UPS would of loved to see Fedex Unionized.

Sean wants Amazon, that's obvious. Knowing UPS obviously wanted to help the Teamsters with Fedex, would they not want the same with Amazon? The time is right, and what better way to go after a behemoth like Amazon, than to show the world how the Teamsters union was able to beat down a corporate giant to make huge gains for all members. Hold out, as long as possible and have to cave at the last moment...

Jim Casey invited the Teamsters in pre-emptively because he saw the future of the labor movement and wanted to get ahead of it. Is it so crazy to think UPS would invite them again to help level the playing field. UPS knows they can make a killing while paying good wages, They would love to see Amazon try to do the same.

TLDR, It's theatre

There is something pure and beautiful about being alone in a trailer and finding that rhythm, especially when you have nice wall after nice wall.
Ahh, I miss those days. Sometimes when you're in the zone, it's like you're about to beat your high score in Tetris. So satisfying when you build a perfect top shelf for the smalls bags.

I have stated many times that he is not telling the entire story. He is showing what is in one hand and hiding the other.
What do you suspect is in the other hand that he’s hiding?
Whatever the new contract is has already been agreed to, maybe even years prior
what would ups get out of this though? Lots of bad publicity and customer unease, potentially already losing customers to fed ex, usps now joining in.

I think the simpler answer is usually correct, it’s just that the teamsters realize this is the perfect chance to fight , and ups is doing everything they can to hoard as much as possible

“Conventional grocery stores have a profit margin of about 2.2%, making them one of the least profitable industries in the US”
And yet their wages are the same as UPS PT wages. Maybe better to attract higher quality applicants. Would you shop at a grocery store that hired what passes for UPS delivery drivers?
