nope, I’ve been far too ignorant in the past and was just thinking short term. Working multiple jobs throughout the day and just paying my bills and trying to have a life outside of that. Foolish of me, but I’m trying to do better, and learn.

To be fair though, it wasn’t even necesarily that I ignored it or didn’t care, I really didn’t hear much about anything at all. I went in and did my job and left, like my other jobs, I never really heard much about anything from
Anyone . I never had any union reps talk to me or my pd or anything.
That is most UPS PT Union members. The company and the Union want us to be ignorant of the system.

I believe that this is fantastic way to drum up public support. He can’t get on tv and say people making 100,000 grand a year with free benefits and a pension aren’t happy and want to strike. No way in hell the teamsters would have support. We ALL know what a rough job it is, how horrible management is, the stress and pressures of the job but simply and plainly he could never in a million years sell the public on striking over those reasons
The same PR used in 1997. PT America won't work anymore. Got us a .50 cent an hour raise.

What do you suspect is in the other hand that he’s hiding?

what would ups get out of this though? Lots of bad publicity and customer unease, potentially already losing customers to fed ex, usps now joining in.

I think the simpler answer is usually correct, it’s just that the teamsters realize this is the perfect chance to fight , and ups is doing everything they can to hoard as much as possible
We will never get as good of a chance to cash in as this contract. At least not in my lifetime. What made it even more beautiful was the new union leadership. He had a chance to really cash in. Let’s hope the contract reflects that.

UPS didn't give lbfo, so they can wait till the end. I heard UPS is holding back this quarters projected profit. And I think the union is trying to get us an added hazard pay, since we were forced to work though covid.
My area they are getting rid of inside combos, they're rounding them up putting them on layoff and then sending them to a huge hub. So, we now have two hubs without combos, and my hub just put all combos on layoff getting ready to send them all to the same big hub.
At two of the hubs they have gotten rid of Eam drivers and are having regular drivers' deliver. Also, one center has gotten rid of commit air times, I think they're going to get rid of all air commit so they can load it on the drivers.
I also read since they stopped putting money in the mgt pension they are saving 1.6 billion a year, not including the money they are saving on lower managements bonuses, also they are making mgt pay more for their healthcare. All that money will pay our new wages and pensions.
Also, mgt didn't even get descent raises, so I can't see these people who were never drivers, trying to do our jobs in this heat.

Makes sense. Make the majority of the work force low paid part time and try to keep them in the dark as much as possible

I will start doing a better job of keeping my coworkers in the loop from now on, although the union seems to be doing a pretty good job of that this time, going on the media and Twitter. Although last week I heard some coworkers talking and they didn’t even realize our pay was an MRA and can and will be taken away, so still some work to be done

Yup, it seems like a perfect storm, right off the pandemic with record profits and the company treating us like :censored2: during it (I heard that management got $1000 bonus during the pandemic, can anyone confirm that??) unions seem to be on the rise, people pissed from
The last contract and now we have new leadership, I agree we will probably never get as good a chance as this again in a while

I REALLY hope SOB is as much of a fighter as he seems to be, and isn’t like every other politician wheelin and dealing with big talk to further their own self interests. He is either really going to help unions or really hurt them. But he has really motivated me and given me hope so far, that’s for sure!

Just a thought....

Anyone remember when UPS had us all write letters to our senators or congressmen or whatever back when Obama was president? Something about changing the law Fedex falls under so we could organize them easier.
They paid us to write letters, that came from corporate. It didn't work, but clearly UPS would of loved to see Fedex Unionized.

Sean wants Amazon, that's obvious. Knowing UPS obviously wanted to help the Teamsters with Fedex, would they not want the same with Amazon? The time is right, and what better way to go after a behemoth like Amazon, than to show the world how the Teamsters union was able to beat down a corporate giant to make huge gains for all members. Hold out, as long as possible and have to cave at the last moment...

Jim Casey invited the Teamsters in pre-emptively because he saw the future of the labor movement and wanted to get ahead of it. Is it so crazy to think UPS would invite them again to help level the playing field. UPS knows they can make a killing while paying good wages, They would love to see Amazon try to do the same.

TLDR, It's theatre
I have thought this as well.

You smell that?
It’s what the man said, that’s why. Must I find the video? Im just saying then it was a stupid thing to say because we will not get what we want without striking now. They own his ass. Pretty simple.

There's a video saying that there must be a ratified contract voted on by the 1st?

Redtag

Part on order, ok to drive
Whatever, that’s just not what SOB said.

JFC!!!! Labor laws run both ways. SOB pulled his people out of negotiations on the 5th that's as far as he can go... you can't strike on the fifth and the company knows that. The company also knows SOB can't call a strike on the 1st if they have a endorsed deal waiting ratification

SOB is just trying to rally the troops and keep up pressure, it's not buisness as usual and your not being lied to.

Was talking to the Shop Stewart yesterday. When he went to the local meeting the guys at the Local couldn’t say what they have gotten negotiated but said it’s been really good till the Part Time stuff. Hopefully the 2 sides get this part time stuff taken care of before August 1st
