self inflicted wounds. They are going to look dumb dragging it out and giving O’Brien 95% of what was asked. Could’ve secured our customers minds months back
and could have buried both fedex and usps at the same time showing a strong showing with working with the employee's for a contract. Both other companies are completely imploding and we decided to have a hold my beer moment. So completely stupid.

I agree to some extent
But none of us know what the union was asking for and what the company was offering and how far apart they was
I mean. We only had a few main requests. It wasn’t that hard and I still feel like UPS will be more than happy with this contract given the profits over the last 5 years. In my opinion we should get a bonus just like management and when there are share buybacks/dividend increases

Getting rid of the 22.4 jobs and give us an extra paid holiday with Martin Luther King Day I'm sure costs a lot of money

Yes everyone needs money to live on and raises are important but you also have to look at the benefits.

Little company pay enough money so we have free healthcare still?
Did they offered increase the pension?
Those are all very important

It’s not getting rid of 22.4’s. It’s hey you got away with that for 5 years you’re lucky. Now back to how it should be. They profit enough with the 4 year BS progression. From my source way up in the union, yes a good bump in pension. Hopefully is effective immediately to get the 60 and 70 year olds out and enjoying retirement

You don't realize how hard it is to get something back after you gave it away

That's a good win for the Union after our last administration sold us out

The volume is. dropping fast
It's costing them plenty right now
Dang is it really? Do you have a source for that? Not that I don’t believe you I’m just interested to see how much
I think ups will drag it to the end and cave in. They don’t want to look like they easily submitted.
See I would have thought it would have been better for them to agree sooner than later. Now instead of looking like they are giving us raises it instead looks like they’re being forced to give it to us. They are not looking too good in terms of public perception right now and are causing a lot of unease with customers

Also, they have to see the union isn’t budging this time. And right after the pandemic and record profits, it’s the perfect time for these demands. By dragging it out and fighting so hard until the end, i feel like it weakens their negotiating strength next contract, where if they instead gave in right away this time, next contract if they fought to the end it would seem more serious, if that makes sense

I don't have to be a rocket scientist to see the lack of volume.

I can see how many empty trucks that are parked outside right now and help you trucks are on the lineup.

Yup, I was just talking to a coworker that the volume seemed so light and wondered if it was due to the potential strike. I said I doubt it because I figured the big companies had contracts and wouldn’t see changes that quickly. I guess I was wrong lol

It’s a combination. The country has been in a freight recession for a few months now. People spending more money on travel, but now the numbers show that is declining.

Remember they wanted to get everyone to 8 a day? This year was their chance and they still choose not to lol

If this wasn't Peak vacation season there would be a lot of people sitting at home right now
