Newest layoffs incoming

I agree, but I don’t think they’re good changes. At least not for the people left.
Worst case scenario: Are the Teamsters going to be forced to sue the company? My theory is the buy outs get rid of top rate drivers large scale to be replaced by lower paid drivers, delays heavier hit on labor costs until total reconfiguration plan is enacted, if not, what other legal recourse does the union have? You were one of the posters that laughed at legal action or is this something entirely different?

I do not think I laughed at legal action. Although I’m not certain that will work. It might, but that usually takes a long time. And a lot of money, unfortunately.

They would be replaced, of course, but they would be replaced with more Teamsters just Teamsters that are starting progression at a lower rate for four years.

What’s going to happen? I couldn’t tell you. I never thought they would do something like this to begin with so we’re in uncharted territory. Assuming it actually happens.

The nlrb doesn't have a quorum and won't anytime soon there is nothing to be done as far as legal action goes. Pray for the best expect the worst.

That’s very true, but in the meantime, if this plan goes through and is successful at getting larger numbers of high seniority drivers to leave it further hurts small locals, that have already lost members due to smaller buildings closing. It also hurts larger locals as well. Whether we like it or not representing people cost money.

What are you expecting to hear on the webinar tomorrow? Do you think we will learn anything new or do you think it will be all rhetoric and drum beating? When Sean was doing calls via zoom there was a q&a and they would take a few softball questions but I don't think YouTube has that functionality. I would like to ask Sean - when UPS responds to his information request will he make the data he receives available to the general membership?

Yes and they will go nowhere fast
Regional bodies can still build a case until the quorum comes back on line in the meantime! The timing of this definitely makes you wonder. Wilcox was removed 1/27/25 by Trump, reinstated 3/11/25, a stay is issued by Supreme Court on 4/9/25. Long process to get that quorum back on line.

Kind of interesting what he asked for in his information request cause it was framed around heat safety at the time but all the data he asked for seems like the stuff you would ask for if you knew the company was going to do a buyout ex. All 9.5 grievances this contract cycle, all open 9.5 grievances, how many jobs have been created this contract cycle... then when UPS didn't respond in the deadline Sean put out a press release about the buyout. I'm thinking hq knew a buyout was in the works for a couple weeks before the press release

I think the call will be much like all the other calls. I will probably listen and see if I can pick up on what the game plan of the international is to stop this. Other than that, I don’t expect much more information. I don’t even know how much information they actually know.
