That depends on the local agreement. In Central we can bring it in and park the truck after 8. Some other locals you have to keep working but get extra pay for it being over your requested 8.

I almost never took 8's until I started getting screwed on a regular basis by other drivers who used them all the time and I got stuck with their work. Of course those were the same people who never helped anyone else and cried when I had an 8 hour request. We had one whiner who was the lowest seniority driver in the loop that was like that so the rest of us would work together to block his requests.

Honestly ...that's the only reason I take them....if they would keep the dispatch somewhat sane ...I would never do it ....when they nail me down w a 10 on a Thursday or Friday......I request the following week for 8.....
