It blows my mind the sheep mentality some had when they took away Black Friday. H* senior would have never accepted that but junior rolled over and let the company have their way.

Or at the very least they should give us holiday pay plus a bonus option day.

UPS will end up paying for it. They will be stuck with older drivers who will not leave.

I'm okay with $400 a month because there is no way I can last another ten years. If I went now, I believe it is $1200 a month which is out of the question.

They should go back to the way it was, a volunteer day. Some years I would work, other years I would take off. It was my choice. I got it off this year because I used a weeks vacation.

What they should do next contract is freeze insurance costs for current retirees at current levels and lock in rates when you retire.

I would rather have the day off. My route is half business and half residential. Last Black Friday I had maybe five businesses open and about three pickups. Didn't make much of a dent in the following week's dispatch either.

It was 30 years at any age for me. I retired at 52 (my body couldn't take it any longer and I was too worn out to try to fight for disability) and I had health insurance because it is a company plan. I got screwed over with the paperwork when I retired and it took months to straighten out. I did find out that for non UPS Teamsters it is also 55 here but that didn't apply to me.

Yes I know you have your side business going on but many retired drivers are too beat up to gain meaningful employment.
