They tell you to change the battery when we change the clocks...I think it's the battery companies that suggest that......the battery we just changed was from 2012. So, it's one day of grogginess versus the extra costs of batteries. We have 4 or 5 smoke detectors. It doesn't always go off at night.
My smoke and CO detectors are all hard wired with a battery backup---no need to change the batteries.
It was nice to get in my Altima the following morning and watch it update the time by itself. I always had to pull out the owner's manual to manually change the clock on their previous models.
