I know the company tried to use them during summer in the Central during the summer seasonal period. Don't know how it turned out for the whole central.
I was under the belief they were trying to hire current hub employees to basically double as PVD driver's which seems okay to me other than the part where no hub employees wanted to do it.

Starting rate for part-timers is going up regardless of the company liking MRAs or not. (And I agree with you they still will have them because we have people making $23 an hour here and I don’t think the starting rate will be the high.) but don’t forget SOB has a lot riding on moving part time wages up not to mention union dues go up when the wage goes up. 19 to 21 an hour is almost a guarantee.

And I agree with you on the supplements. I don’t understand the supplemental negotiating first, unless there’s a directive given of some sort.

The PVD issue is the wildcard I say because while I think there will be some sort of agreement how does Sean come out of this looking like a rose if it’s still there?
Here, our MRA is $24/hr. We obviously still get lousy workers who don't show up when scheduled.
I'm ok with the pay as it is, but I hate the fact that despite working over 2000 hours a year for the last 5 years, I only accrue a p/t pension.

Every year they try to say hub employees cannot do PVD every year we file a grievance, and they relent.

I agree with you more full-time inside jobs would be beneficial

Don't you remember every single driver flipping out that they would have to be T-S? It was all a fight to STOP Saturday work from even happening. Still to this day people think voting out 22.4s will eliminate Saturday delivery.
oh I remember. The union should have said hey Saturdays are here. Low seniority drivers will have to work Saturdays.

It’s a hell of a lot better option than 2 tiered drive scale. I don’t disagree that weekends off is one of the most attractive parts of this jobs but that’s something ups will have to figure out. Not the union.

Honestly though I think that's the only real way to fix the weekend

You basically have the lowest seniority drivers running whole loops for less pay on what the rest of the non-retail country considers a day off

Unless we incentivize enough to keep new people and maybe get SOME senior drivers to work and bring stability to the weekend, it will forever be a dumping ground
Center close to me runs Saturdays without 22.4 (710 local). They get enough volunteers for time and a half every Saturday to run the operation.

I doubt it. It's funny I never see that proposal either and it should be one everytime.
I think the central was the only place that ever had that language right?

It was so much better that way. They couldn’t keep track of a rolling 5 day. So they actually tried to keep you under most of the time instead of gaming it 2 days a week.

What article?
The company originally told us they do not use current employees to drive PVD. We argued it is extra work and should go by seniority. They said pound sand. These are seasonal employees.
Then we found out they allow part time management to deliver when it wasn’t their shift in the building to PVD so we used article 3 section 7 in the national, worked like a charm. Didn’t argue with us this year as long as it doesn’t affect someone’s scheduled shift.

Honestly I don't know. I wasn't able to be on the 9.5 list back then and my contract knowledge also was practically non existent. :)

I would like to see it in the contract.
