Thankfully it's only management and corporate positions. Union members have the option to move with the work if their center is consolidated. Could affect some new hires with little seniority I supposeNotes on layoffs... Seen a lot of 'em over the years.
They will always surprise you with a layoff, it is very unlikely you will be warned. They want you working up to the nitty-gritty end. If they warn you, there is theft; sabotage; hostilities; and no one works, if they know they are done.
The layoff will happen just before your days off, (or a weekend.) This is standard now days. Studies show there is less likelihood of retaliation by the laid off if the facility is closed, while they are at their angriest.
Any severance or compensation will be crap and take it or leave it.
Employers in the area will immediately lower their starting salaries, in an effort to screw all of you, since they have you over a barrel.
Don't underestimate the damage a layoff can do to your family, especially the kids.
Layoffs kind of spread like a contagious disease. Sad that UPS is the one to get the ball rolling.
It is still very disruptive to some people where the hub they need to move to is hundred miles away. It is not one-size-fit-all on how it will affect most of us.Thankfully it's only management and corporate positions. Oh please, keep the coolio glasses. We have enough turnover already. The only benefit to rumor layoffs in seniority is to quasi-cut people out of seniority order by convincing them to quit.
1 year's seniority and you've got 2 dozen people below you.
I can read the intent night and day.
Thank you for doing your job with conscience. Long gone are the days when a company man rewarded for his longevity. We are now just steppingstones for Wall Street to the next higher earning number. I'm sorry to say that we do not have a budget for your party. Otherwise, we would have thrown you a bash.
Mariah Carey could be 80 years old and still get itGood Lord she's thicc.
Wouldn’t it be crazy if Carol pulled the plug on you next week.6 weeks to retirement bud. You’ll still be working for me lol
Not everywhereEven if you have to bump 2 part timers the Company is still obligated to pay into your Pension and Health and Welfare plans. Roughly 1,000 a week.
Part timers have always been expendable.. Dues paying temporaries…
If there is any full timers laid off, there shouldn’t be any part timer working pass 5 period. No matter the classification or seniority date.
Drop boxes are dumb now anyway with every UPS Store and locally owned mail room taking packages. We already got our money from the prepaid label. We just got rid of some more drop boxes
It's been done.Wouldn’t it be crazy if Carol pulled the plug on you next week.
There goes that retirement
You mean he might have to get a real job?Wouldn’t it be crazy if Carol pulled the plug on you next week.
There goes that retirement
See you over at Amazon
We lost a few good customers because we don't pick them up late anymoreDrop boxes are dumb now anyway with every UPS Store and locally owned mail room taking packages. We already got our money from the prepaid label.

We filled the FedX ground trucks up when they came on the scene because customers finally had a choice. You know, somebody who would wait 5 minutes if the customer wasn't quite ready. We lost a few good customers because we don't pick them up late anymore
They don't want you to do that anymoreWe filled the FedX ground trucks up when they came on the scene because customers finally had a choice. You know, somebody who would wait 5 minutes if the customer wasn't quite ready.
Somehow 5 minutes always turned into 30 minutes…We filled the FedX ground trucks up when they came on the scene because customers finally had a choice. You know, somebody who would wait 5 minutes if the customer wasn't quite ready.
It never bothered me. It was all overtime.Somehow 5 minutes always turned into 30 minutes…
Or more
The drop box isn't any more convenient than a mail room, that doesn't make any sense to me. UPS stores here don't get picked up until after 1730.We lost a few good customers because we don't pick them up late anymore
