That's what defines politics....for you. And for me.

Elon has significant party overlap with current Republican positions on things that matter TO HIM. He gets to decide how things weigh against each other in his own mind.

So he has declared he will vote Republican. This isn't difficult, except for someone continually unable to understand that others think differently.
No, like it or not, if a candidate doesn’t line up with a person s cultural beliefs, money will not sway that persons vote. I’d say that is 99.5% of the people. You’re a data person right?

Cultural values are weighed in many different ways. You are right, but not everyone puts those two that you listed at the top of their list of cultural values.

I've given quite generously of my time, and shown a great deal of patience. I still have much more patience. It also helps that making everyone here look foolish takes about 1% of my mental energy.

Because you can't find a picture of an electric vehicle.
I wasn't looking for a pic. Especially of an electric vehicle.
I read the words and immediately thought of you.

Yes, I understand. A picture of a car with an engine makes you think of the electric vehicle thread.

Because neither you, nor anyone else here, has any idea what they are talking about.

Other than abortion and guns, tell me something where current Republicans are to the right of obama.
Taxes, the miltary, border security, business regulation, education, law and order. I'll give you the gay rights one. Not for a second do I think Obama was conservative on gay rights, but Republicans saw that being openly prejudiced against any group wasn't a hill they want to die on considering that if there's one thing the Dems always hang around their necks it's accusations of bigotry of every sort. In the last few years conservative gays have been pretty vocal and there are now several who appear regularly on FOX News. Obama was anything but conservative. He chose to go after healthcare first and the reaction to that allowed the Republicans to retake the House in 2010 which stifled other things he was aiming to do. The knock on him by the far Left was he didn't go far enough but the Constitution has built in checks and balances that can keep any administration from going too far if their party loses control of Congress.

Those are differences in what Republicans talk about doing. Not a difference in anything they've actually done. When Republicans had control, the border was not measurably better, and immigration did not decrease.

I grant you their rhetoric is different on regulation or taxes or whatever. But, no, they are still to the left of where Obama governed during his presidency.
