Have you seen what the drivers look like now? That ship has sailed. At this rate, we’ll be like FedEx ground within 10 years or less.
Gee- I wonder why...I agree. I have a hard time believing that the spirit of the language was to knowingly have a staffing issue and ignore it and just let the drivers violate 9.5 and pay the grievances indefinitely. But here we are.

Is it the drivers who violate 9.5, or is it the Company who is violating?I agree. I have a hard time believing that the spirit of the language was to knowingly have a staffing issue and ignore it and just let the drivers violate 9.5 and pay the grievances indefinitely. But here we are.
Alex, What is BOTH for $200?Is it the drivers who violate 9.5, or is it the Company who is violating?![]()
The amount of work and perpetual lack of staffing is causing the drivers to violate continually. No effort is made to control it.Is it the drivers who violate 9.5, or is it the Company who is violating?![]()
My point is that it is the Company who is violating, hence the grievance. The amount of work and perpetual lack of staffing is causing the drivers to violate continually. No effort is made to control it.
For sure, and if we willfully violated the contract we would eventually be shown the door.I Don’t get too hung up on someone having an occasional 9.5 issue. But people working 55 and 60 hours every week because the company knows they have a staffing issue and refuses to hire seems blatant to me.My point is that it is the Company who is violating, hence the grievance.
If it was the driver who violated, they would be disciplined.
The company just looks at violating the contract as a cost of doing business. Cheaper for them to pay grievances than hire more people. For sure, and if we willfully violated the contract we would eventually be shown the door.I Don’t get too hung up on someone having an occasional 9.5 issue. Yep, and I try to explain that to drivers But they were under the impression 9.5 language was supposed to stop this practice. The company just looks at violating the contract as a cost of doing business. Cheaper for them to pay grievances than hire more people.
Most believe this. Until the contract reads in a way that makes it more expensive to pay out instead of getting drivers in under 9.5 it will continue as is.Yep, and I try to explain that to drivers But they were under the impression 9.5 language was supposed to stop this practice.
Yep, there’s really only more compensation at the end of the rainbow. No guarantees under 9.5.Most believe this. Until the contract reads in a way that makes it more expensive to pay out instead of getting drivers in under 9.5 it will continue as is.
