Pension

Projected to be an additional $1500 per month, over and above current levels for those bitching about contribution increases, by the end of the contract.

Seems like one helluva pension increase to me. $1500 more per month in 5 years.
And, the pensions that didn't receive a bailout can add benefit enhancements and multipliers. Never seen something get so misconstrued.

It helps that pt. And ft. Pensions are all in one pot…just the amount that goes in there from pters who leave in a year or two is astronomical considering they pay 10-12 bucks an hour into their pensions.
It would be smart for all locals to get their PT pension contributions under the locals control. Maybe we can chase this next time. Eighty five percent of PTmers don’t make it five years to become vested. Roll that into the total fund for each supplement and you’re cooking.

Don’t forget that the last 4 years has been bonus years where the multiplier has been raised. We have pretty much received a “free” year for working the last 3 years.

You would think that ups would already want to get out of the pt pension business, unless there is another underlying reason why they want to keep it business as usual??

Because they hold those payments in escrow until that PT employee becomes vested, and if they don’t they just roll it back to Carol? Just a theory.

Probably the same reason they historically run the contract negotiations way past the ending date…look at how long the pilots went without a contract.
Pretty good chance if any of the supplements get voted down, we could possibly wait a very long time as well for ratification. Anything past September and they will start saying they don’t have time to meet because of scheduling issues and peak season.

And the checks won’t be .70 cents an hour this time…people are going to be chomping at the bit if this thing goes past a couple months. Might be a nice chunk of change.

4-6 months worth of retro pay, and several thousand dollars will have people ready to vote yes. Strategy?
