It is a democracy because people govern themselves. It is representative because people choose elected officials by free and secret ballot.
The founding fathers disliked democracy. Because really it was just the many controlling the few. Which is exactly why it was set up as a Republic to try and guard from that.
All part of the republic. If we had a democracy we'd have mass voting on every issue with one election instead of the different levels of Federalism with every state running its own election.

supposedly cancelling a campaign event in philadelphia sunday.
later someone released a video showing biden exiting air force one to say he was fine.
