Quadruple time 9.5 penalty isn’t enough to deter the company. How much would it take?

I guess we are lucky not to have these issues in my local. Only time the company has not cared about 9.5 grievances was covid. How large is the 9.5 list? I'd think that if you got near 100% of 9.5 eligible members to get on and file each time the company would work quickly to stop the bleeding.

Lol they definitely know. The process is working about as well as it can. I don’t blame them. The companies response is, “volume is supposed to go down most likely this summer”. Thats when the Amazon volume starts to go away. I don’t see it happening, we will be slammed with vacations as well at that time.
Oh yeah in July when they're closing 4 out of twelve buildings in our division? Laughable. Gonna be some long hours this summer.

Yep.

Tome made her bed and now she has to lie in it... I mean we have to pay for it.

She told the investors that she is closing 10% of the buildings and reducing the workforce to increase the stock price. And she is going to do it or die.

The only way of stopping this is if the board votes her out this spring and puts in someone who knows how to run a service company, as opposed to a retail company.

9.5 list is 100% and has been for a couple years. Extreme weather, and not replacing retirements and terminations has taken its toll. There is nowhere for the company to go with the work when everyone is over 95 almost daily. They have so far refused to hire. Hearing there might be some movement on that shortly. I hope it’s true.

The company agreed to pay before the committee was even involved, but they are involved as well. Like I said we’re only in February. There’s no way it’s going to be “managed” this year. Unless they hire people and they have no intention. This does not appear to be a nationwide problem, but certainly a problem in many places, and it doesn’t appear quadruple time is enough to deter the company. It’s cheaper to pay it.
I don’t know if they would care if we just brought the work back after 9.5 at this point. At this point that’s all that I see would work. They are just going to pay it out until their long term Amazon reduction kicks in. It’s a double hit this year with surepost.

One thing I’ve noticed is when a building has multiple centers the company looks at staffing based on the building and not the individual centers -so one center is usually over-staffed and they use the extras to fill in for the understaffed center, which works temporarily but doesn’t really fix the chronic staffing problems.

And if you have a lot of turnover for whatever reason in a building the company doesn’t replace the drivers as the contract states they should especially in the first part of the year.

Rolling Stops every night even when they’re working 12 and close to 14 hours somedays.
There also automating these buildings and understaffing the sorts giving loaders 5-7 trucks too load, then allowing drivers to come in and help making double the preload, day, twilight sorts when they could just hire more people. UPS math logic!
