Quadruple time 9.5 penalty isn’t enough to deter the company. How much would it take?

Your center giving out attendance discipline for the standard yearly plague that sweeps through in February? Firing drivers here for not showing up for work, because we're understaffed. The logic is simply amazing.

Also, unless you're sick and have a Dr's note (or the days), COME TO WORK.
Yep, they they give it out for all those things. They can’t really afford to fire anyone so it’s all for show.

If the union hadn’t botched the new language on paying penalty for the other two days over 9.5 UPS would have more incentive not to over-dispatch.
Was it botched or could they not to get the company to agree and just ran with it? I know there’s grievances going to nationals about excessive overtime for two days.

They botched it in regard to writing language that’s less susceptible to UPS exploitation. And UPS fully exploited that weakness. No surprise there. Letting the language go out for a vote to be perceived by corporate as straight retaliation language instead of a simple version where two days worked over 9.5 triggers penalty pay was embarrassingly stupid. And I don't think those grievances (I have a stack pending) will go our way.

Why should we have to prove retaliation in the form of ill will vs loading us down because there wasn’t enough drivers? Or simply because they can? The language (for better or worse) says we’re not to be assigned excessive (over 9.5) the other two days. The “retaliation“ is obvious if they’ve already kept us under 9.5 the other three days and then shove it down our throats the remaining two.

This controversy is nonsense. And, sadly, there are many stewards and BAs that ACTUALLY agree with UPS. And I don’t mean they acknowledge the language not being as strong as it should be. They actually think it’s supposed to be based on childish retaliation and that no one knows what excessive OT is even though the entire focus of that section concerns any hours over 9.5 hours. 🤦‍♂️

How the heck are you guys still this slammed?
Not even that slammed, just more than last year. But because of spc they're cutting routes and laying the bottom people off. In the same state as @Thebrownblob I think, but we're not in the same situation as there. But it's just heavy, everyone filing 9.5, and it's completely avoidable on UPS's end.

You anywhere close to Springfield OH? They were trying to get me to drive 90 minutes down there to help them on my day off Monday.
Sounds like OH just sucks. They're like the Southern region of the central. ;)
