Question About Delivery Driver Age Req.

I am just curious as to what the reasons are in needing to be 21 to start driving delivery, whether it be Saturday airs or anything. I am almost 20 and my dads company owns a lot of box trucks, which are almost identical to the rentals that UPS uses and it is perfectly legal for me to drive them. It's also legal for me to drive a package car but no can do. Not even the 4x4s. It's really confusing to me why the company makes a requirement like that.

Because you need to be 21 to go interstate (between states) and to transport HAZMAT stuff. Insurance reasons could also be why but that part I'm not sure.

By the time you're 21 you may have enough seniority to actually be in the running for various driving positions. Depends on other factors of course but try and think of it that way. Great things come to those who wait.

Why don't you have a career with your dads company?

Let's just settle it ,
The company says you must be 21 and that's it .
Just like many of their other rules , if you don't like them then UPS isn't for you .
