Question About Delivery Driver Age Req.

Light 'em up!
It's not a commercial drivers license to drive a package car.

No it is not.

The issue is interstate commerce. The FMCSA has a minimum age of 21 to transport, or engage in, interstate commerce. States may set lower ages for intrastate commerce, but UPS is involved in interstate commerce.

A package driver usually does not cross state lines and only engages in intrastate transport, but that does not have anything to do with the age requirement. A package driver is delivering packages from interstate commerce and is engaged in interstate commerce deliveries, thus having to be 21. As long as there is 1 package that you deliver from outside your state, you are engaged in interstate commerce.

A driver delivering packages from a manufacturer to businesses within that state does not necessarily have to be 21 since they are solely involved in intrastate commerce, but all UPS package drivers are involved in interstate commerce.

My point is. Just because we don't need a CDL to drive a package car here. It's still a commercial vehicle and you need to be 21 years of age.

Joe friend* crybaby doesn't want to hear that answer. He is sooooo special.

Well, considering here in PA, I drive "commercial vehicles" all the time, it's not against any rules here. It's a company policy here in PA and probably across the board because of different state requirements.

I don't want to hear an answer that is wrong and I am surely not a generation snowflake.

Thank you for proving to me that you are no better than them though.
Let's just settle it ,
The company says you must be 21 and that's it .
Just like many of their other rules , if you don't like them then UPS isn't for you .

Settle what? I wasn't trying to argue with the rules they set. I was just wondering why.

Thank you. An actual answer to my question that wasn't blatant bull:censored2: or no help at all.
