Question about meal violation/calling off

Two separate questions (I work on the air ramp at the Ontario UPS hub):

1. I worked for 6 hours but was not given a lunch, and when I asked about it I was told it was listed as a meal violation but I was not given the time for it. Should I contact my Union rep about it?

2. I just hit my 70 working days to gain "seniority". If I were to call off New Years Eve, would I run the risk of being fired?

Not sure how it works in Freight....but you just gained seniority, does it sound wise to call off if you are scheduled to work today? Hmmmm....not so much.
