Absolutely not it had some meat on the bone, so much so that I really need to re-listen to it because it was a lot I am actually pretty impressed.

Yeah it was impressive. Everybody keeps telling me that the forced six has to be dealt with in the supplements but when I asked our business agent who was part of that negotiation what have we done he just says it’s a strike able issue. I’m like can we see the supplement because that’s not what I asked you and the supplements are done.

They addressed the issue with not seeing the supplements on the call tonight. although I think it’s silly. They have the reasons.

Now I have a buddy saying that the BA said it’s not dealt with in our supplement.
I’m pretty sure it’s going to be in the national, but I could be wrong. I could’ve swore I heard him talk about not being forced a six day definitely we will relisten if it’s posted tomorrow. It’s a huge issue and I don’t see how it could be left the way it is.

In fairness, I was drinking beer and eating amazing cheeseburger while I listened

The southern is pretty weak, but every supplement has its weak points.
A lot of us are trying to figure out why the Southern Region has a tentative agreement saying an employee can lose their seniority after 3 days of not reporting to work.

We have problems in my building with management walking people out without giving them a reason or a written termination letter, making the employee think their fired, then actually firing the employees for no call no show.

Yeah, that would never fly here matter fact I’ve walked part-timers back in the building myself, and told them they better put the guy back to work because there was no Steward present. I explained they had a lot of liability and backpay for the way they handled the situation and they put the guy back to work that day.

This was with a steward present. I just see the company abusing that 3 day language. That’s why it’s so confusing to us down here, we thought there was going to be no concessions in this contract.

A three day no call no show can result in a termination, but I’ve seen the company work with people more often than not. And they certainly don’t lose their seniority.

What happens if you get locked up or hospitalized and do not have access to a phone? Do you lose your job at that point?

Just had that happen here with a hospitalization for some personal reasons the individual was allowed to go on disability after about eight days of not calling, we figured out where he was. Put in jail might be a different issue, and would probably be handled on a case by case basis. I suppose in theory they could terminate.

So possibly an upside to this language would be that you would just lose your seniority, not get fired? I’m trying to understand why they would put that in there other than to benefit the company.

I don’t know what that language is you’re talking about and it sounds ridiculous. If you don’t get fired, you don’t lose your seniority who the hell would want to work here and lose their seniority? That’s a pretty big punishment.
