Raise in new contract

The call last night had a lot of positive developments that effect my workgroup. Increase in penalty pay for 9.5's and 8hr request, removing in cab camera, no discipline on tech. These are all things on my list to be addressed and they were. We aren't living in reality if we think the union can tell the company our guys are no longer working overtime anymore unless they want it. That's not how this works, as unpopular as it may be to say. The only thing the union can do is make it cost the company to work guys if they don't want it, which they are doing. Yes, they campaigned on no forced overtime but obviously that's politician talk, which they are. Their definition of forced overtime isn't ours. Everything agreed so far has been good, not great. If we get the raises during this contract to be between $7.5-$10, increase pension, keep insurance premiums $0, this master's will pass, and it should. I would like to see insurance age drop from 57yrs to 55yrs, but I can wait another contract for that. Yes, it isn't perfect, but so far, so good.
You must be in the New England Supplement if you have to work till 57. No other region requires a member to work that late. New England changed that to have a member put more into their failing pension fund.

Your exactly right, the union and company acted like there is nothing in the books to prevent guys from being habitual no call no shows but there is, it's called progressive discipline on attendance. I also agree that if you fail to come to work and don't notify management, unless under extreme conditions, you don't want to work here and should be fired. As a steward, I can't defend an attendance problem in most cases. I just can't agree to give the company the power to strip seniority from a guy no matter what they've done. There seems like an obvious "slippery slope" with this power, and if you give UPS an inch, they take a mile.
I'm in agreement with you 100 percent. Thanks for not taking my comment out of context.

Central? Or is 57 688 specific?

Sorry it’s 57 to keep insurance. Not to retire.

drivers already make 150k in my center
Doubtful in pkg, and I worked a 💩ton of hours last year and I barely cracked 130 K and not to mention we have a Bonus Center although I don’t receive much of it, others do nobody over 150 or even close. 9.5 was almost nonexistent last year because we filed $300,000 worth of grievances the year before.

not like we are rich though…. a ghetto apt is 2g a month…. hood rat condo 250k
That’s like the top few drivers in my building. Most top rate are between $100-120K.

That’s sad. I’m renting a 3Bed 2 Bath house with a big backyard for less than that right now.

If you can’t afford to live on $150K something is off. You’re either not doing a budget or you’re deeply in debt.

Do you need an air compressor or tire gauge

Absolutely, the contract isn’t just about how much is on my check. Many of these work rules needed to be addressed, and by the sound of the call last night it sounds like a vast number of them were. When we find out the economic package, we will have a better picture and I will make my mind up then but so far it’s positive.

And, we cannot expect to get everything at once. I think we are getting 75% of what we actually want, we can get the other 25% next contract.

To expect to get 100% of everything we want at once is unrealistic. It would be nice, but ain't gonna happen.

Well, I know that and you know that, but they keep saying that’s not gonna happen on on these calls, giving unrealistic expectations to people thinking we’re going to get a 50% increase in our hourly rate. We should expect on of the best contacts we have ever had, and I think we will get that but some peoples idea of “best” is being skewed buy some of the rhetoric.
