Raise in new contract

Brownslave688

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
Well, I know that and you know that, but they keep saying that’s not gonna happen on on these calls, giving unrealistic expectations to people thinking we’re going to get a 50% increase in our hourly rate. We should expect on of the best contacts we have ever had, and I think we will get that but some peoples idea of “best” is being skewed buy some of the rhetoric.
2018 was the best ever sir. Doubt we can live up to that.

I don't see how SOB can run on putting an end to forced overtime and then agree to this BS. This language won't stop a damn thing

He didn't run on ending forced overtime. Didn't really pay attention, did you?

Exactly! This is a concession and not following through on a campaign promise. No forced overtime.

Uh, no. That was not his campaign promise.

However, I don’t remember them campaigning on NO forced overtime.

He didn't.

I don't remember them saying that either @Cowboy Mac, but I will give @RangerMan06 the benefit of the doubt.

Don't give him the benefit of the doubt. He wants to strike over a campaign promise from O'Brien that O'Brien never promised.

Good Lord. Talk about the uninformed.

We got lots of very good language in this contract and that's very important

Apparently you’re the one that struggles with math.

Buying 600k homes on 150k salary isn’t gonna give you a very comfy life.
If your married and your wife works that even more than $150K.

20% down on a $600K house with a 15 year mortgage leaves you with a payment of about $2800/month.

$150K is about $12,500/month gross after taxes and investing probably about $9K.

Can you not pay $2800/month with $9K/month and live comfortably?

That’s like the top few drivers in my building. Most top rate are between $100-120K.

That’s sad. I’m renting a 3Bed 2 Bath house with a big backyard for less than that right now.

If you can’t afford to live on $150K something is off. You’re either not doing a budget or you’re deeply in debt.
150k is the new 100k buddy…10% inflation these past for years, continued into next year….horrible what Joe has done

No argument there but just because there’s inflation doesn’t mean you have to be broke and living on the street. Also sometimes you have to cut your losses and move out of those high crime high tax democrat run cities.

Look at what $600K gets you in Texas. Plenty of examples like this:

Ye150k is nowhere near 12,500 gross in many places. My wife makes 300k a year and grosses about 13k per month.

Sorry but you’re oblivious to the living situations in many areas.

Look you screwed me up even. She nets that at double the pay. You’re not getting 9K in many places. No way you’re saving 120k for a down payment. Unless you want to wait and buy when you’re 50.

150,000/12 = 12,500.
300,000/12 = 25,000.

Have you called the bank to find out where your missing money is?

It’s all simple math. If you saved $40K/year for three years there’s your $120K down payment.

That’s for a $600K house, which in most parts of the country is a LOT of house, maybe it’s a modest house in yours.

Your wife’s astronomical income aside, you think no one can live off of $110K a year?

I don’t disagree in most parts it is. We aren’t talking about most parts. We are talking about the New Jerseys the New Yorks the California’s.

By no means am I saying 150k is chump change and no one can get by anywhere on it. I live in a really low cost area and driver jobs are still considered really good here. But there’s areas they’re paying people $40 an hour off the street and can’t find people to take the job because it’s nowhere near enough to live a decent life in those areas.

I would probably leave. If it were me making the decision for my family I would move. It’s not worth it to do this job to barely survive.

Let UPS learn from them losing employees and they can pay what the market demands in those places in order to keep people.
