Dave Thomas (Wendys founder) served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, but not as a draftee – he chose to enlist.
When war broke out, he knew he’d get a better assignment as a willing volunteer, and he wanted to be able
to use and develop his cooking skills. He asked to be trained at the Cook’s and Baker’s School at Fort Benning,
and he went on to serve as a mess sergeant in Germany.

In the 1950s and 60s, Dave Thomas was involved with several KFC franchises. He worked with Colonel Sanders himself
on some projects to make KFC more successful and better-known. One of Thomas’s suggestions to Sanders was that he s
hould appear in commercials for his restaurant. The Colonel took him up on it, and Thomas himself used the idea years
later, with obvious success for Wendy’s.

Thomas’s experience running KFC franchises prepared him for his next business venture – opening his own hamburger
restaurant. Legend has it that Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers was named after Thomas’s daughter
Melinda Lou – nicknamed Wendy – and it’s almost true. Yes, it was named after Melinda Lou, and yes, she
had a nickname, but that nickname was Wenda.

The 10 Most Stressful Careers

The 2012 CareerCast Job Stress Report found that enlisted military soldiers have the most stressful job; medical records technicians ranked as the least stressful.
Not surprising, the five most stressful jobs all come with significant on-the-job dangers. The second five might be more surprising.

The list is as follows:
  • Soldiers
  • Firefighters
  • Airline pilots
  • Military generals
  • Police officers
  • Event coordinators
  • Public relations executives
  • Corporate executives
  • Photojournalists
  • Taxi drivers
On the opposite end of the spectrum, jobs that come with the least amount of stress, in addition to medical records technicians, include jewelers, hairstylists, dressmakers and tailors and medical laboratory technicians.

How Fast Food Ads Stack Up to Real Thing

By Caitlin McCormack - Have you ever been lured into visiting a fast-food restaurant thanks to an advertisement that showcases a mouthwatering meal you might not otherwise buy, only to be disappointed when the item you bought looks nothing like the item you were marketed? You’re not alone. This fascinating photo project started in late 2010 by Dario D. shows how the real-life items stack up to their advertised images. Terrifying, isn’t it?

Fortunately you have made yourself exempt from both side of that problem.

Yes sir. Subway is like that. Wish I could just bring in the ad and say here, make it just like this. :laughing2:

Watching Golden Globes tonight. My picks aren't winning. I wanted Zoey Deschamel (sp) to win for comedy actress. I think she's fresh, cute and funny/quirky. Laura Dern got it for Enlightened. Gee, from hands in a pile of dinosaur poop to a Golden Globe winner. Who'd have guessed ?

I wanted Jonah Hill to get it for supporting actor, but the old guy, Christopher Plummer won for Beginnings.

That creep, Kelsey Grammer won for his new show, Bosses.

Kate Winslet won....I really like her!...still watching....

Blood is definitely a vital issue. The human body contains approximately 6 quarts (or 5.6 liters) of blood. Some other interesting blood facts are:

* In one day, your blood travels nearly 12,000 miles.

* Your heart beats around 35 million times per year.

* Your heart pumps a million barrels of blood during the average lifetime -- enough to fill three supertankers.

That's a lot of mileage for six little quarts!

You forgot to mention that those 6 quarts of blood get renewed every 120 days, too !

Erythrocytes, or red blood cells, are produced in the bone marrow and then circulated throughout the body. These cells live for about 120 days before they are broken down by the spleen and the liver, and eventually secreted from the body.

The combination "ough" can be pronounced in ten different ways. The following sentence contains them all: "A rough-coated, dough- faced, thoughtful ploughman swam through the lough at Scarborough; after falling into a slough, he coughed and hiccoughed."

I still don`t understand why KFC doesn`t deliver in Florida or in other states. It`s much more of a family meal than Burger King is.
It`s available here country wide, even in the Northwest territories as seen below.
