There is also a lot about Dr Leale's actions. Even though Lincoln lived through the night, Dr Leale had immediately known the President could not be saved.

This happened real close by.......
We thought it was pretty bad when we drove by it.
This all happened close by (@3:00 AM).......it was all still in place at 8:30 this morning because it was a fatality.
