Funny how people like to tell others how they ought to live but when it's something they like doing they convince themselves there's nothing wrong with it. It's been proven in lab studies that today's marijuana has been altered to be much stronger, more addictive. That young adults whose brains aren't fully developed risk serious permanent damage. Not an issue to be glib about.

And if you did the research you'd know in that part of the world at that time drinking water was often bad. Wine was produced to drink with meals and fermentation of grape juice into wine was a way to preserve it. The sole purpose of using marijuana is to get high. Big difference between that and drinking wine with meals. And the Bible warns against the abuse of alcohol, not that it can't be used at all.

My pastor put it pretty good.

"I definitely don't want to condone marijuana use for you, and I would love to see you never use again. But we cannot call something a sin which isn't a sin, because then we are assuming the role of God. If I were to say marijuana is a sin then I would have to say alcohol and coffee are sins, but coffee and alcohol are Christian liberties."
