There are no federal charges to bring. This isn't the Chauvin trial. Kyle can't be charged with civil rights violations.

If the judge had declared a mistrial even one with prejudice it would have left the door open for DOJ to hit him with other charges. The acquittal makes all that go away.

What charges though? I think a dismissal with prejudice might have allowed for an appeal from the state, if I understand that correctly.

That applied to Chauvin because he was a state actor. To charge Rittenhouse they would have to prove he was working in cooperation with the police, or some other government agency. And since the courts can't bring themselves to admit that big tech is working in cooperation with the government, even with very clear evidence that they are, they would have a lot of splaining to do if they just up and decided Kyle was in cahoots with the government.

The first lawyer Rittenhouse had wanted to use him for a cause instead of properly mounting a defense which is why he was replaced.

And it wasn't that the jury couldn't come to an agreement to convict but that they agreed he was not guilty.
