If you run a lot of ultras that stuff is a given because of all the downhill running. I've lost my both my big toe nails multiple times. There are some hard core ultra guys who have had their toe nails surgically removed just so they won't have to deal with it.

It was about 50 degrees and 55% humidity when we stepped off this morning, it's amazing what a difference that makes. Nicest long run since before summer started.

It was like 75 with 80-90% humidity yesterday for the race, and quite a bit warmer for today's long run, though there was a nice breeze out of the east. You and the Mrs run this morning?

Nah, ran with a buddy. Ms Jones is nursing some injuries so she's taking some time off from running.

Well this does not qualify as a "run", but yesterday my wife and I participated in a 5K run/walk for the SCT (Stop Child Trafficking) charity to raise awareness and combat child sex trafficking. She and I walked nonstop at a brisk pace and completed the 5K in about 50 minutes. She has been working out on her elliptical machine each day, and every day after work I walk my dogs for 1.5 miles. A year and a half ago I weighed 300 lbs, I had a stress fracture in my foot, and the moment I got home from work I hit the couch and stayed there. Today I weigh about 255 and I walk those dogs every day after work without fail. I dont know how well I would do at running....my knees and feet have 24 years of UPS abuse on them...but I had no problems whatsoever walking off that 5K. We felt great afterward, and it was a lot of fun for a good cause.

Even a brisk 5k walk is better than being sedentary at home on your couch. Congrats to you.

Also, you shouldn't have to raise awareness about child trafficking. Their parents shouldn't be letting them out driving anyway. Stupid parents!!!

46 and have been getting faster since coming back to the sport at 37. I have had some injuries, but a little time off and smarter technique, have really helped alleviate that issue.

Welcome to the over 40 injury club. I'm 46 as well and the injury bug had me down for quite a spell, it's been at least 3 years since I really raced. I'm finally healthy and putting in some decent miles so we'll just see how it goes.
