nowhere special
is it some sort of hybrid? All our PCs are either Allison equipped or if it’s a Ford it has the 6R140.. both are conventional automatic transmissions.

it would slip out into what would be reverse if the engine is running. Without the engine running there is no pressure to activate solenoids because the pump is not turning and the converter is not spinning

So it could slip into neutral? That is usually the problem I think. Which is why the driver should be using the handbrake.

Sometimes being fired at UPS is not really being fired. Hope your BA has some stones and you get your job back.
If so ask for some safety ride alongs so you can learn more. Learn the methods backwards and forwards. The 5 seeing habits and 10 point commentary should be your safety bible.

With the right attitude you could be an excellent driver. Make lemonade out of the lemon.

It was mentioned earlier that it was a possibility that the shift lever may not have been fully engaged in Park and may have slipped to Drive. I contended that while it may have shifted to Neutral that I highly doubted that it could have shifted in to Drive. Who is correct?
I have seen the shifters on some automatic freight liners . The orange marker behind the gear window is broken or loose and doesn’t match the selected gear.

Shifters nowadays have a locking solenoid that requires the brake pedal to be depressed to move it out of park.

The system also requires a pedal depress to get Drive from Neutral if I'm not mistaken. Otherwise you get the old shift inhibit (if running). The engine should be off anyway, correct?

Part on order, ok to drive

that indicator doesn’t matter. Push the shifter all the way up, if it’s in park you would not be able to pull it back down without your foot on the brake and depressing the lock button on the shifter.

however, some of the workhorses have... in house Improved solenoids and don’t require you to press down on the brake, however the button on the side of the shifter still needs to be pressed to get it out of park.

You will get your job back.
If your hub is anything like mine, they definitely need the drivers, especially right now during these peak season like days.
Also, try not to beat yourself up too bad.
No one was hurt and plenty of drivers including myself have taken out mailboxes.
Experience is the best teacher.

Sorry to hear you lost your job. Hard to find a job with the benefits UPS provides. I went 34 years and it just got harder and harder every year to keep corporate off your back. Hopefully they will give you a chance to work inside pt to keep your benefits until you can try again. Good luck to you.
I don't want pt hub work. I wouldn't accept it. I want my training packet and somehow I hope to find a way they have to be accountable for negligence on my training. But out of all of this, I know now not to rely on them and to ask other drivers and the importance of triple-checking everything on a hill. I've done so many hills, however, I still can't believe something went wrong this time.

I really couldn't have lived on if someone else was hurt. And I could have been rolled over. This is going to feel unforgivable for a long time.

triple checking everything on a hill and tightening the handbrake should be added to the 10 point commentary.

Don't hesitate to park in a further/safer spot and walk the stop in. If mgmt wants to squawk about your running late, explain all the ways you are working safely.

You are an entitled twerp, aren't you? You seem to think that you are doing UPS a favor by working of them.

You screwed up, period. The company knows it and you know it. There is no way they will take any responsibility. Lose the attitude, kiss some butt and accept what they offer. Otherwise, start looking for another job.
