In reality he has heard the name Reagan somewhere but does not know anything about him. He never lived here under carter so he can't relate to that experience. The carter economy that was 10 times worse then this one. Carter foriegn policy that had us very close to direct combat with the soviet union during the Iran mess. He never lived in germany as a military man so he does not know what its like to know that a soviet crossing of the border may mean you have 10 minutes to live. He does not know anything about living under the threat of mutually assured self destruction. He never had to practice evacuating to a bomb shelter in case the soviets fired their nukes. Never served in the military during a time when the greatest fear was world war three and knowing the soviets practicied with chemical weapons.

So while Klein does not know anything about the american experience during this time it has not stopped him from proudly displaying his ignorance.

And , take a trip to Europe. I mentioned it before on a thread, that I always had to stick up for americans, because they are not liked there. I gave you guys credit.
But, I never forget the one time, that my brother and I sat in a german bar, and the germans were cursing about us (in German which I understood), thinking we were americans.
After a half an hr of that going on, I finally told my brother I will walk over to that "Stammtisch" (Roundtable where the regulars sit), and explain to them, that we understood everything they were saying about us, and also tell them we are Canadians, not Americans.
My brother didn't want me to do that, but I did it , anyways.

Needless to say, after I had my quick chat with those Germans, we instantly got invited to their roundtable, and they wanted to know everything about Canada.
All the beers and snaps were bought for us ! We did return the favour later on, handing out a round or 2 ourselves.
Turned out to be a great evening at the pub !

Our troops trained with the realization they were squared off with the soviet army. Our troops trained with the realization that they were significantly outnumbered by the soviets. Thus it was common for them to talk about their time to live if the sovets ever crossed that border.

Reagan had his darkside and the truth is, Camelot was more myth than fact.

And let's not forget, "Tear down this wall" came from speechwriter Pete Robinson and "Ask not" was as much a product from Ted Sorenson so when you "feel good" from those words, thank those speechwriters and not the person who spoke them.

These are actors reading a script which doesn't translate to great leaders, just great actors. Maybe Obama is just a "B" movie actor instead of an A list'er and therein lay the problem for many here!
