No we couldn’t dummy. It would require nation building similar to what we did in Japan, you can’t just topple one terrorist regime and then leave. It will require generations of middle eastern people living under western guidance to deradicalize those people. You have to domesticate them like what america did with the Japs. No, you specifically cited Japan as a success story. We occupied a thoroughly defeated Japan in 1945 without one land battle on their main islands and ended the occupation in 1952. We didn't stay there 20 years fighting an insurgency with no end in sight. Helping European countries recover from the devastation of war isn't the same as nation building. Your analogies don't hold up under scrutiny. And you're asking us to "nation build" in a region of the world with very different mores than us. Very different cultural outlooks. They see us as a Christian occupying force and are never going to accept our "nation building." Bottom line you have no qualms getting our people killed if it means we get to be boss.
