War includes the aftermath, we didn't win any of those wars, none of them have a better situation now than before we got involved, and certainly none of them were worth the cost

War is to accomplish a political objective, we have failed all ours since 1945, except I guess Panama or Granada

None of that has ANYTHING to do with the MIC, that's just foreign policy
We fail because people vote for failure and demand it. We voted to surrender three times in a row. Biden, Trump and Obama. By ending the war they meant surrendering and throwing away the last 20 years of nation building. It was a very winnable situation, single digit to not even 20 us servicemen KIA a year. Hardly a war at that point.
Not saying casualties don’t suck, but that was a mostly won war we voted to surrender three times in a row. Trump, Biden and Obama.
Yet you blame the “MIC” boogeyman that is so popular to bash in the zeitgeist.

South Korea has it much better now than before, Afghanistan had it better than they ever did, you’re lying to yourself to bash America. Anti-War was extremely popular sentiment after WW1 and look where that got them. Preventative military action is a great thing, holding Afghanistan was a good thing, enforcing redlines is a good thing.

America had a lot of success intervening in South America during the Cold War. US backed governments won out for the most part, keeping Soviets out of our backyard. That’s the level Afghanistan was at, it was no longer hundreds of dead like under Obama, it was intervention level casualties. Acceptable for the mission of maintaining a US backed government. It wasn’t an “endless war”.

Near the end it was $42 billion a year to prop up a corrupt government.

"Former President Donald Trump has praised Russian President Vladimir Putin's moves in Ukraine, calling him "savvy," after the Kremlin recognized the independence of two breakaway, Russian separatist-controlled regions in eastern Ukraine.

"I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, 'This is genius.' Putin declares a big portion ... of Ukraine, Putin declares it as independent," Trump said in an interview Tuesday on the conservative Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show."

Yes, in a free society one has the right to praise the ability of our enemies to make our government look like buffoons. What? Freeze his bank accounts! Charge him with sedition! How dare he!

Trump loves authoritarian strongmen. Can't get enough of them. Has never met one he didn't like. He dreams of having dictatorial control over the US and it's likely a lot of Trumpees wish he did too. He's vile.

Hope the Republicans can run a better Presidential candidate in 2024.

I may have missed it so could you remind us of all of these authoritarian strongmen? Couldn't be Putin. Trump did more for Ukraine militarily than Obama ever did. Xi from China? No, put tariffs on his goods. Little Kim of North Korea maybe? Trump did have the audacity to speak to him directly. Of course Trump's son got millions from the Ukrainians, Russians, Chinese, and others. No, wait, that was Biden's son. Were there others? Trudeau of Canada maybe?

I just don't understand when comparing the job Trump did with what Biden's doing how he could despise Trump so strongly. Trump has issues but ultimately it's about a president's policies. The man achieved a lot in spite of the constant hostile press and a Congress hell bent on getting rid of him no matter how many lies they had to tell to do it.

NPR told him Trump was praising Putin, and he gobbled up their left wing propaganda and came here calling Trump "vile". gmafb.

Trump said Putin's control of the narrative was savy. It is. Putin is doing whatever he wants because Biden is a bitch. If boxy thinks someone is vile it should be Biden for allowing this.

Liberal media trying to shift blame to Trump when he correctly states how Putin took Biden to the cleaners. Instead of being truthful about the statement being a criticism of Biden.

my degree thesis paper was on counter-insurgency btw; we absolutely could not have won in afghanistan as long as it was majority pashtun

no amount of 'eating soup with a knife' or surges or afghaninizing the war would have ever worked because they literally dont have any concept of what a NATION is at all; how do you nation build people who dont want a nation?

Yet you blame the “MIC” boogeyman that is so popular to bash in the zeitgeist.
it is not just a boogeyman, the MIC is a corrupt and inefficient political lobbying monster that influences foreign policy to the detriment of American interests

if the MIC was just some rich corps who took too long and went over budget, but did nothing else, i'd agree with you; but that's NOT what they are

First off, the MIC didn't exist during the Korean War; it came about during the 50's, mostly after the war
Second, Afghanistan is absolutely in a worse state than it was pre-American involvement
Third, anti-war sentiment was popular after WW1 because WW1 was a literally pointless meat-grinder that left Europe worse off than it was before

America had a lot of success intervening in South America during the Cold War. US backed governments won out for the most part, keeping Soviets out of our backyard.
you have GOT to be trolling
Central/South America are completely :censored2:ed up beyond belief, in many ways because of our :censored2:ty and hamfisted interventions

hell, keeping the Soviets at bay at all was a total waste in retrospect because their whole system was a doomed loser to begin with

Okay, how much better off would South America be if Soviet Union had gotten involved with them?
How much better off would they be if we let leftists like Venezuelans are experiencing grow down there?

It makes since that you “studied” this in college with the way you view America’s involvement abroad.

how do i vote for Lockheed, BAE Systems, Boeing funding a corrupt "forever war" system?

at the low low price of $400 billion a year and thousands dead! what a wonderful state!

At least with us it was mostly combatants dying and mostly terrorist combatants. Very few US troop deaths intervening in Afghanistan keeping a us backed government alive and it from turning into a terrorist hellhole ran by jihadis and doing business with China. We really discussing $400 billion? It’s very disingenuous to add up the total cost of fighting a war and rebuilding a nation over the span of twenty years and act like it is still costing us 400 billion a year averaged out (I guess?). The more heavy lifting that had already been done the cheaper it gets to secure as time goes on. That’s all thrown away now thanks to idiots that buy into the “ENDLESS WARRRRER” hysteria that has gripped this nation.
how do i vote for Lockheed, BAE Systems, Boeing funding a corrupt "forever war" system?
You don’t, you vote to surrender. What a wonderful moral choice. My heart really does break for those people’s hopelessness now that western powers are not there to intervene. Not just for them but for all the young growing democracy at risk.

Yes. I think history and even current events with China and Russia shows for a fact that when America backs down democracies die and true war mongering authoritarians rule the day, which is destabilizing for the entire world. You don’t allow those people to take our place on the world stage.

in sports athletes often admire the play of their opponents even though they are on a different team. that admiration of a tactic does not mean they are in love with the opponent only that they admired their play.

the germans were great admirers of Patton for his genius on the battlefield. it did not make them traitors to the cause.

as to the presidential campaign in 2024 are you suggesting republicans need to learn how to manufacture fake votes?
