Safety issue being ignored

Where are the kids standing?

They are standing inside the trailer by the roll up doors. There is no ledge so it's just a drop to the pavement from the roll up doors. We back up to the door and stand at the bottom of the trailer and lift the air into the roll up door of the trailer with a gap of about 2 feet between the rear bumper of the PC and the side of the trailer. If a PC is hit and rolls and you are on not in the PC, you will be pinned against the trailer. A simple platform at the bottom of each door that is the height of the bottom of the air trailer would prevent any accident because you would just back up and touch the platform.

I also think it's hilarious you need to have a clearance to enter the *ing trailer. Umm ok I drive around all day with 10s of thousands of dollars in my truck but I can't walk into the trailer so I can jump down onto my bumper and not get crushed because I don't have your special little fake clearance. Lol
I think the clearance comes down from FAA/TSA. You are supposed to have an airport badge to enter our trailer. We back up to the regular belt to unload airs so we dont have your issue.

I would think the PT loaders have a larger safety issue.

Yes. Nothing new here.

It's a trailer with air cans with 5 doors to back up to. Trucks are close enough to have to fold mirrors in. Unsupervised. Just a few kids taking the air from you. You are at risk of being crushed until you unchain open and physically stand inside your truck.
It is a "last look" air operation, but if the loader is air certified, you are allowed to step into the can if needed as you are being escorted by the certified employee but you cannot be in there without your escort. I would unchain and open door before backing to trailer, then leave 4 feet of space behind your truck as you so if truck does roll, you have time to react.

The problem I see is that the air can in the trailer is about 4 ft off the ground and how do you climb up there without a ladder? I think the delivery drivers are just throwing their packages up into the air cans and the loaders are stacking them inside the cans. I speak with some experience with loading air containers.

I think what he means is his whole truck is full. So he has to leave a gap to get to the air packages loaded in the back.
Doesn't seem that way.
My fob doesn't always unlock my rear door right away. The chain isn't the issue. It's an unsafe practice and one day someone will be crushed behind a PC. I don't care how long it takes. You never stand between a dock and a vehicle. Period.
Write it up then. This is entirely on you for not writing up your truck. You can park somewhere inside the center fences and put on your vest, unchain, and open your car away from the trailer then back up. If your truck is blown out then that's a different story.

No but I'm getting close to. I just mentioned but again the other day and was brushed off again. Nobody else seems to even care
File it and get the party started. If they are in violation and drag their feet fixing the issue immediately then write and sign a letter to your area OSHA office.

Nothing gets done until people use the same (or less) effort to put it on paper as they do typing in a thread on here.

File it and if your safety co-chair isn't a company door mat then get them involved immediately. If OSHA comes in the safety committee members have a right to accompany them while they are investigating.

Man up.
