One-third of uninsured Americans did not take their medicine as prescribed to try to lower their costs, a new government report found."-cnn

One-third of uninsured can't afford to take drugs as prescribed, says government report - CNN

and on a side note i cant stand canadas privatized travel health insurance system. i dont trust them, and neither does my dad. my dad pays several thousand dollars for health insurance if he goes to america for a few months because he has mild heart problems from eating too much corporate oils, sugars, fats, salts.

privatized healthcare sucks. just reading over my coverage when i travel:

These claims aren't covered:
* claims that result from war
* claims that result from taking part in a riot or civil commotion
* claims that result from the hostile action of government armed forces

In keeping with the topic the Trump administration is pushing SCOTUS to uphold a Texas court ruling that that declared the ACA unconstitutional claiming that the ACA is a disservice to the American people and ineffective in dealing with a healthcare system that in their opinion is broke. All this while once again offering no alternative. If they were to prevail it would leave 52 million Americans with no health insurance leaving them to exhaust their own personal assets on healthcare until they're exhausted. So what will then be their final option? Why it's Medicaid. A program that the Trump administration wants to make deep cuts to in it's funding support leaving another unfunded mandate which the state's will have to find a way to close the funding gap. You can easily see where this is going and yes it will likely mean very large increase in state and local taxes.
So if you Trumpeters and Consercuks think you'll be better off with a SCOTUS overturning of the ACA you might just be more than a little disappointed .

When has an administration ever pushed the Supreme Court to do anything? And where do you get your 52 million number?

Right now there are 52 million Americans who like yourself have preexisting medical conditions. If the ACA is overturned away go the protections afforded those with those conditions who could then be kicked off their insurance plan or be denied coverage altogether. The DOJ with the support if not the direction of Trump administration has asked SCOTUS to uphold the Texas ruling that declared the ACA unconstitutional. What this could mean for you and those like you is that if you were to return to the states before you turn 65 and go on Medicare if the GOP hasn't abolished it by that time and the ACA is overturned you could be denied health insurance based on your preexisting conditions if you were to apply for health insurance.

"And?" .....Oh, I get it. If you're too young for Medicare can't afford to buy your own private health insurance at full fare on the open market......Medicaid will likely have to cover you. You know, Medicaid, another one of those evil, communist sympathizing socialist programs you despise. But wait! It's a program that could benefit you............that means it's ok then in your mind's eye.
Now here's an idea being floated by those evil communist sympathizing pinko liberals that might just help you a lot. Placing Medicare on the insurance exchanges as a public option for people age 55-65 to buy into if they so choose. Oh darn, I forgot. It's socialist so you won't do it. But wait! If it's all that's standing in the way of you dying from your preexisting medical conditions.....you'll use it. Oh yeah, you'll use it believe me.

I paid into Medicare just like Social Security. I expect I will use it when I'm old enough. But as I will pay as I go in other countries it's doubtful I'll ever get much out of it. Oh well.

Seriously, if your health goes well I guess I can't say south because you're already there so let's say your symptoms get worse to the point where you have to return to the states permanently and still several years away from Medicare the proposed 55-65 buy in option might literally save your life. Given the shape you're in I can't see why you don't just throw in the towel and go for your disability because if you get it in 2 years you will automatically go on Medicare. After 44 years of consecutive reported earnings I followed the professional advice given to me and went for mine and to my complete shock it went through in just 3 months.

Why would I need to return to the States? They have excellent medical care here for a lot less. If I need a major surgery and am on Medicare sure, but otherwise don't see the need. We all did at some point, and nothing has been invented yet that will stop that.

hey guys im going in for a cat scan i believe next week for my cranium not because im a demented socialist but because i banged my head skiing.

the time between me going to the doc and me going to hospital for the cat scan was about 2 weeks so it was short. doesnt cost me anything. i can always cancel and get it somewhere else if i want although im not sure what hte point of that would be. my healthcare costs dont go up because i got injured.

im also going to do physio for my knee. ill give you the low down on what kind of coverage an uninsured working age canadian would get. there are many well rated physio places.

part of being free is being free to choose. so when you cant afford things especially basic things like protesting which maintain democracy, then you are less free.

in norway the govt covers the costs of travel for people to get healthcare who live remotely. that is more free than what we have.
