I prefer to max it. $23,000 this year is the max for anyone reading this. You don't need to max out your contributions but at least 5%. Probably closer to 10% is better.

Good job brother17% when working.
Gives me a well above average 401K, today.
Every penny I've taken out of the 401K since 2015 has been refilled with the current stock market numbers.
And over $500,000 from the pension, too. ( only 8 years )
I can afford to wait till I'm 70 to collect SS.
Not bad for a combo worker.
You're still included in my will.Good job brother
We take for granted how much we make. I never really think about it. Was perusing Reddit the other day and the topic was someone bought a new car for this price and their income was this. People were commenting that they make this much money and have this car. All decent jobs, good money. Very few comments made the money we make. Lots of 50k,70k,80k. No clue how people are getting by today with inflation and cost of living if they rent. Thankful to have a good paying job.Full-time top scale UPS employees are high earners. I have a feeling we would be shocked to know Many are putting away very little on their own.
It comes fast...like a 18 year old @ColdworldWe just got a nice raise this contract and people were still complaining they can't afford to put something in
They are going to be in for a rude awakening when retirement time comes
ThanksGood job brother
Just have to stay dedicated to contributingI'm amazed of what my 401K total is today, all without a company contribution match.
Haven't made a contribution since 2015, when I was medically forced to retire.Just have to stay dedicated to contributing
Damn that sounds painful. I’ve had a small case of plantar fasciitis before and it was not fun.Haven't made a contribution since 2015, when I was medically forced to retire.
Plantar fasciitis in both feet.
I took SS at 62. Will not have to touch the 401K until they force me at 72. I figured I may as well suck as much SS as possible and leave the 401K to the kids.17% when working.
