Strike in August, what say you?

Really "Lacrosse Tournaments"? What the hell is Lacrosse? Is that where you hit a ball with a mallet while riding a horse? All we have is the normal sports and 4H and FFA programs.

The 1st strike I went through we had just bought a house the year before and were looking at new appliances. I wanted to hold off on any major purchases until things settled down at work but the salesman said "Oh hell--you won't be out long enough to even matter" so we went ahead and bought a refrigerator and stove. Turns out he was right--2 weeks. If you guys do go on strike (and personally I think you will probably need to) it won't be for long---2 or 3 weeks max. Maybe a month at the VERY most. What's a month out of a 5 or six year contract if it gets you what you deserve? A month is chicken feed I tell ya.

I could see the Company letting us walk. This could be that backbreaker to officially break the Union. If you look at all the technology they have since 1997, it sure looks like they have tuned up the Brown Machine just in case. Our industry leading wages could also put members in a bind if we were locked out for a week. I could see a lot of full-time employees not being able to sit out more than one week. We'll have to wait and see, but I don't exactly have the faith I had in 1997 in my Union brothers and sisters. This is a different workforce altogether.
Yeah... this is a workforce that doesn’t want to come to work, or is willing to go home after 2 hours of work if asked... yes, let’s see how this turns out for the company...

A month strike would never happen...would probably have the largest companies sue ups over breach of contract or something like that....remember other companies who do business have just as good or even better lawyers than ups...

I hope we don’t strike. But those days where I get 30 more stops , or when it’s just one little thing I don’t have control over or hey I didn’t know. Then I’m for a strike. Ever wonder how management is excellent drivers, some pcm’s are like wtf!

I am very much of the opinion we will strike in August. I realize my center is but a microcosum of UPS as a whole but this is what I am seeing:

1) WAY too many drivers . 3-6 drivers are given the day off every day. The center is too fat

2) The company refuses to settle grievances. 2013-2016 Local Hearings were held every month and every couple of months we got grievance checks. The current thing for management to do now is to cancel the hearings on the scheduled date and push them off another month while the grievances keep piling up.

3) Alot of extra Management has appeared from Corporate to "assist" our management team

4) After 7 months of negotiating absolutely no movement has been made in the Southern Region Supplement Negotiations

I really think the company is trying to force a strike

Best case scenario they lock us out and we show them how much we are really worth!!!!!!!!
