How about 55 y/o with 35 years? So if youre 55 with 25-30 years ft an early retirement might be worth it?
Are most drivers willing to forgo raises to shorten the progression? Are most drivers willing to strike to shorten the progression even tho an overwhelming majority who know what that really means have already reached top rate?Curious if this will be the new ac in trucks/heat exhaustion next contract
Especially since if one worked for 25-30 years they have contributed to retirees benefits. Our union runs the insurance plan, not the company.I’m having a hard time understanding how they could strip healthcare away from someone who’s already qualified for it. Maybe if they didn’t have the age yet I could understand but if they did, I don’t see how it could get stripped away. But this is UPS so who knows.
Doubt it, but feels like low hanging fruit. Nobody would have striked for ac in truck that is shut off at every stop. But the union made it a priority and also low hanging fruit. Are most drivers willing to forgo raises to shorten the progression? Well, we don’t know the details yet and I think a lot of people are imagining they’re going to offer this buyout to people who haven’t reached either the years or the age to qualify for insurance.Especially since if one worked for 25-30 years they have contributed to retirees benifits. Our union runs the insurance plan, not the company.
Is UPS saying they have the power to cut off funding any time they wish?
What do you feel would make 9.5 language stronger? Most of the guys now are using it like a piggy bank. I don’t think they want 9.5 hours to go away anymore. They’re getting used to the 2 and $3000 checks every month extra.Doubt it, but feels like low hanging fruit. Nobody would have striked for ac in truck that is shut off at every stop. But the union made it a priority and also low hanging fruit.
Hoping for stronger 9.5 and sooner vacations next contract. But have a feeling with the buyouts and Roadie delivering ground pkg the next contract may be the last and it might be in the unions best interest to avoid a strike. Hope I'm wrong
Good luck.Wow. I wonder what the numbers are on the buyouts. Hopefully it opens up opportunities for the younger guys.

I didn’t read that anywhere so I don’t know. People are speculating because really no details have been given yet. It isn’t a far stretch though to imagine that UPS would make a deal that’s beneficial mostly to them.If one worked for 25-30 years they have contributed to retirees benifits. I don't think air conditioning cost a meaningful amount of money. All the components for the air conditioning system are probably 300 -400 bucks per truck and no additional labor cost when installed at the factory. They don't have to sink a bunch of mechanic hours into retrofitting existing package cars.Doubt it, but feels like low hanging fruit. 9.5 clock out for anyone on the list. What do you feel would make 9.5 language stronger? Most of the guys now are using it like a piggy bank. I don’t think they want 9.5 hours to go away anymore. They’re getting used to the 2 and $3000 checks every month extra.
Automatic payment of the penalty on the regular paycheck you receive for the week that 9.5 rights were violated. Or if we actually want to end excessive overtime, health & welfare and pension contributions for all hours worked instead of just the first 8 in a day so that it is no longer cheaper to pay penalties than it is to hire another employee. What do you feel would make 9.5 language stronger? We all know the feeder news network started all these rumors!!
I’m going to bet when the offer comes. People are gonna be disappointed.. I mean after all it is UPS.
No filling, automatic at one punch. Pipe dream thoughWhat do you feel would make 9.5 language stronger? Most of the guys now are using it like a piggy bank. I don’t think they want 9.5 hours to go away anymore. They’re getting used to the 2 and $3000 checks every month extra.
ALL UPS trucks come standard with AC from the factory. UPS pays to take the AC outI don't think air conditioning cost a meaningful amount of money. Putting the progression back to say 90 days is 500+ extra per every new driver hired driver every week for 3 years and 9 months. Much more substantial cost. I'm not against a shorter progression those drivers are out there busting their ass just like me and I shouldn't be making more than 2x as much money I'm just saying it's apples to oranges
Shouldn't be a pipe dream. Union just needs to stand upNo filling, automatic at one punch. Pipe dream though
STFU, jackrabbitOmg... Quit crying!
I've seen that build sheet too where they paid a couple hundred to have the AC taken out but I also think that was a supe van. A package car is a custom order built to UPS specification it shouldn't have any "standard" equipment.ALL UPS trucks come standard with AC from the factory. UPS pays to take the AC out
