Teamster Buyout?

It's so vague
Not even my BA or Union president knows what's going on.
I know, well even if the union did know they won’t tell you because they don’t want you to take it. UPS is supposed to ad 20k jobs remember? Not do away with jobs. So they don’t like it. But we won’t know for sure until the offer is presented to you. And maybe it will be garbage, I just don’t know why they would offer garbage to give up something substantial. Unless for some reason they want the old timers gone now!

I think the union is just playing stupid right here

They should have seen the writing on the wall with the sweetheart deal. The central state pension fund got

Retire before the end of this contract and get an extra thousand dollars. If you make the qualifications
How is that not being a buyout

We are a bunch of pawns

Last time I checked the union is supposed to.We work in our best interest.

But apparently they can claim many of other things, but the bottom line is, they are only worried about the loss of Union dues. If too many full time, people retire.

And obviously UPS knows what attrition rate is right now. So even if they do hire 20k, they might know half will quit before healthcare qualification

The timing is actually brilliant.

Out the door by Oct 1, enough time to have new hires trained up, buried for peak. And laid off by January 16. Perfect, problem solved. They quit by May because they haven't worked.
UPS hires seasonals for summer and rinse n repeat.

I was being sarcastic.

Well obviously they have a reason. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t beneficial to a select few drivers. I’m just saying I know a few drivers who have been there a lot longer then 33 years, sorry johney, and they are pretty excited because they were retiring anyway in the next year or two but haven’t told anyone yet so ergo… gift really don’t understand why it’s an argument, doesn’t need to be, it was originally just an innocent comment.
I absolutely would not fault. Any guy who takes this offer. I totally understand it. My point was this company is doing something They’ve never done before and it definitely won’t be for the benefit of everyone. It probably won’t even be evident for a couple years down the road because UPS plans this stuff out years in advance.

Sometimes the Teamsters are playing checkers,

And company is playing chess.

What’s a summer seasonal? We don’t have that here.
