What do you mean?

Just thought it was interesting… and maybe shows a possible flaw in the system for extreme scenarios
It’s not a flaw it’s the feature. The electoral college ensures candidates don’t just campaign in the most populated states. As well as in keeping with what the founding fathers want, they did not want a pure democracy because pure democracy is just the many controlling the few. There’s no liberty there. And would eventually dissolve into wars and anarchy.

“A democratic government, they feared, might dissolve into anarchy. A republican system, conversely, invited an aristocracy to rise. If anyone asks you to design a government, run away. The United States was neither founded as a pure republic nor as a pure democracy”

Remember 1861? Kind of big war? We had the EC system back then.

I personally believe we should work to modify the Constitution to reform how we pick our president. I think one person, one vote is the best way to pick our presidents.
Sure, we had a couple wars and we’ve always managed to come back together. I’m sorry, but one person one vote is not the best way to run a republic. The constitution is difficult to amend. If we ever lose the electoral college, it would be a disaster.
