There are some things I like about the job, but I suspect that they are also the same things that I liked about any other job that I have had.

alot of capitalist jobs have BS. if the economy was democratic, the workers would never vote for such conditions.

but that is what happens in capitalism when a small minority make all the decisions..
Grand Rapids' worker-run, no-tipping restaurant closes
In its first year, Bartertown landed on VegNews' list of "10 Hot New Vegan Restaurants," sharing the spotlight with eateries in London, Toronto, Vancouver and Las Vegas.

Not only was the menu unconventional, so was the business model. Bartertown was a collective, which meant there were no bosses, according to Cappelletti. The inspiration for the worker-owned restaurant was based on Cappelletti's own restaurant experience.

While the restaurant's menu garnered a loyal following and hefty praise, there were complaints about 40-minute waits for sandwiches and limited hours of operation.

I like how you come on hear thinking you're going to change minds or something. Your views of a Utopian paradise can't work. Never has, never will.

And you say we would design our trucks so that the back doesn't get hot in August. So if we were in control, we'd have our cardboard air conditioned even though the doors open over 150 times a day letting all the air out every 2 minutes? C'mon man.

You say you haven't changed. Its FedEx that has changed. But I think FedEx changing has changed you. Now that contractors are losing control and making less money, it seems your views are turning more pro worker now that you guys are starting to feel the pressure. I like the new bbsam. It will be fine also seems to be going down the same path.

Possible. But I was a Bernie fan before it was cool to "feel the Bern".

So you and those hitting the agree button think we should have our pkgs air conditioned? That's what I'm talking about which is what rickyb was suggesting.

Up tell me. Are Americans being screwed over by a capitalism fixated on the bottom line with the help of paid off elected officials?

I think that's what rickyb is getting at and I think there is an awful lot of evidence to support it.

it says
"In the end, the restaurant failed to achieve the employee business model it envisioned.

"It had never been a worker-owned restaurant," said Cummings. "That was a misnomer. We still bought locally and paid living wages.""

i didnt say that specifically, but in a democratic economic system like worker run coops, the workers would definitely vote to change things from how they are currently under the capitalist UPS system.

maybe comfy seats, A/C, built in radio, trucks that are better maintained, etc.

you being so sure of your self that its either capitalism or state socialism, should be an expert on worker coops since you've obviously never heard of them before until i mentioned it.

try a little humility

Don't think AC, think swamp cooler. Much more practical in an open door vehicle. Works best in a low humidity evironment though. Of course you'd have to keep a water reservoir filled.

I would not justify the the cost for AC or built in radios. You have yet to specifically lay out the cost and obligations to the worker to join a coop. Who will clean the toilets?
